I recently started back on medication specifically anxiety medication for the first time in years
I wanted to write about the journey for me and maybe track my progress by writing about how its going.
it might help someone else who’s considering it, currently going through or has been before.
i don’t think I’m allowed to name what I’m taking but thats ok. this is mostly for me to just get it out of my head. I might even decide Im being too vulnerable and delete this thread, but lets give it a shot.
good we went out today, to the movies, and had some things to do at the shops, it was a nice day out, first time at the movies for the smallest bug but he did well everyone except me is in bed or about to go bed now, big day tomorrow first day back at school and care for the kids, first day back in routine for my work, and other half is starting to wfh tomorrow until she goes on leave which will be soon, so yeah, it was a really nice family day @tyme

Re: Life on an SSRI
It's not uncommon for an SSRI to spike anxiety when you start taking it:
Unfortunately if you already had anxiety to start with, it makes for a very rough ride. I'm 4 days into starting an SSRI (mostly for anxiety, some depression) and the last couple of days have been really awful. I'm encouraged by your trajectory, that seems to be getting slightly better after 1 week.
Remember that you will have ups and downs on a daily basis, be very patient, and look at the long term trajectory.

Re: Life on an SSRI
Hey @nervouswreck interesting to hear from someone along a similar timeline as me but also it seems like even a couple of days can make a world of difference (good and bad) this early on
it’s a long battle not something that will happen overnight but was postive for me to reflect on the day and notice some changes to how i responded to situations in my head, at the time you dont often notice but later on I thought about it, and realised that normally a crowded shopping centre on the last day of school holidays would have set my heart rate right up and i would have become really short and frustrated at all the crowds and people, i would think about pushing everyone out of my way so I could steam roll everyone and get the hell out of the there, and I would have felt really hot and looked at any possible Avenue to get out, I felt those things today was able to come back to the present a little bit and just be ok with how I felt knowing it was going to end shortly, in the past that kind of thing has almost ruined my whole day
Good luck with it my friend I’m glad I can help I will keep updating this thread I was unsure I was going to keep it going and if anyone was really reading it but I will keep going
