Winter solstice

Winter solstice

Longest night of the year and the darkness and coldness have really hit. Things seem really bleak. I've been struggling for a long time and was pacing myself to this point but can't see beyond it. I'm safe but despairing. I'm trapped in a vortex of family dysfunction from earliest years and emotional pain, received and (mea culpa) inflicted. I can't help my closest sibling - all others are estranged - and I don't seem able to extricate myself from personal difficulties and dilemmas that at present ďefine me - I have no connections or other identity. I've lost faith in my mh team.

I guess the sun will rise tomorrow, and I'll keep taking one day at a time, but I can't envision a future, my future.

Re: Winter solstice

Have just done 2 hours and am having a break. This is the danger time - I mustn't start reading!

Have done bedroom (which I normally keep fairly neat) and hallway (which is lined with shelving and had some stuff on the floor). Plus laundry, which I'm counting as tidying. Next up is lounge-room and/or bathroom, whichever looks easier 😄

How are you going? @Dimity

Snap - our messages crossed!

Well done on your first hour 🙂 @Dimity

Re: Winter solstice

Good effort @NatureLover . For my second hour I'll do a bit more cleaning, including the bathroom, and tackle the kitchen table.

Re: Winter solstice

Thanks, @Dimity .

I'm not even cleaning yet, just tidying! Well done for cleaning.

It will help me to tackle my bathroom if I know you're doing yours.

Re: Winter solstice

It was just spot cleaning in the bathroom @NatureLover . I've tidied the kitchen table a bit. I've been catching up really rather than tackling the backlog. I'll take a break then try again.

Re: Winter solstice

Well done on tackling the kitchen table, @Dimity 🙂

I'm enjoying tidying with you - makes it much easier for me. Thank you so much.

Have just stopped for a late lunch after 1 hour 40 minutes on the lounge-room. Have cleared the floor totally, but not tidied the desk or vacuumed - those can wait for another day. (Desk tidying can wait for a day when I have less energy)

Catching up is all I'm doing too. Catching up to where I should be.

Good luck when you continue 🙂

Re: Winter solstice

Hi @Dimity , I've run out of puff after 4 hours 10 minutes. But I'm pleased with today, and I enjoyed tidying with you - thank you.

I didn't get to the bathroom in the end, but I cleared a couple of bags from the kitchen floor. Disinfecting as I went (all day).

How did you go this afternoon?

Re: Winter solstice

@NatureLover after my 2 hours I didn't know where to start on the proper decluttering and frittered away time on the phone. Then I went shopping. I'll try this evening... I did want to do 3 hours.

Re: Winter solstice

Two hours is good, @Dimity 👍

Good luck if you attempt a third hour this evening.

Re: Winter solstice

You did very well @NatureLover , you set a good example. I remember I was making progress with the one helper who actually worked with me. I missed her when she had to move on.
