Winter solstice

Winter solstice

Longest night of the year and the darkness and coldness have really hit. Things seem really bleak. I've been struggling for a long time and was pacing myself to this point but can't see beyond it. I'm safe but despairing. I'm trapped in a vortex of family dysfunction from earliest years and emotional pain, received and (mea culpa) inflicted. I can't help my closest sibling - all others are estranged - and I don't seem able to extricate myself from personal difficulties and dilemmas that at present ďefine me - I have no connections or other identity. I've lost faith in my mh team.

I guess the sun will rise tomorrow, and I'll keep taking one day at a time, but I can't envision a future, my future.

@Dimity

I am sorry you are in a no win situation regarding your relative. Hearing you re your commitment, but uncertainty of the best way to proceed, regarding paperwork.

Socialising is tricky. I believe your assessment, and I know what it is like to be silenced, and have to deal with dominant personalities. I tend to internalise rejections, but working at, moving on, and letting it be their issue. Oh but it is so tricky to navigate. Feelings and thoughts arise, and we are both reflective and sensitive.

I am glad you have something to remember your cat. I appreciated it for ours.

We had some good cat moments today, with our new cats, (we have had them over a year now).

At least you get the good vibrations, grouse and physics of music joke, being nerdy and Australian.

It was expensive for people to be interested in authentic Baroque instruments.

I needed to have some time off the forum. I am thinking it a good idea, not to log on every day. I still want to check in regularly, but a little more space between and look at other things online, but also more offline.

Had the physics professor today, and he is still getting his head around the real meaning off 440 hertz and the A, and where it appears in notated music and what it sounds like, on different instruments including voice.

Re: Winter solstice

Hello @Appleblossom good to hear from you, and to share experiences.

My mother was either gifted or inherited her violin. The luthier was a minor name. Although it was originally a Baroque instrument it had had the neck replaced and soundpeg moved when it was revoiced for the higher modern pitch at some stage in its life. It was quite a nice instrument.

Finding a rhythm and degree of engagement you're comfortable with on the forums is important.

I've been a bit more active, a bit needier but still ambivalent. I realised last night I'm in a liminal space, not sure of my place in the scheme of things but recognising things have changed. A bad old feeling.

Geopolitics and politics closer to home compound the sense of uncertainty and danger.

You seem able to accept responsibility and act with integrity. Perhaps that comes from a clarity of vision and sense of purpose.

I'll try to muddle on.

Just Hugs @Dimity

I have appreciated you for a long time. Dont underestimate your worth. It is good seeing you around the forums supporting others.

yes, the world at large is concerning, and has many ripple effects, not just regarding war, oil or power.

These are difficult times.

I made a carafe of Honeybush, orange and mandarin herbal tea tonight.

Hey @NatureLover @Shaz51 @AuntGlow @Jynx

Re: Winter solstice

Sounds like hard work @Shaz51 . I've done some chores but probably won't get the washing dry outside. It's there for now.

I'll try to do a bit in the garden.

Thanks for asking @AuntGlow . Very sad, a few tears still. The vet staff were lovely.

It's been just over 2 weeks so I guess the loss isn't as raw.

I really don't want to be alone for the rest of my life, not that that will be long, so I'll have to work harder at social and community connections.

Of course, and I can imagine you might have a few tears for a while. @Dimity 💛

I trust that you won't be alone for the rest of your life, and we will support you in whatever you need - whether that is creating more human connections or finding a fur baby to love and nurture sometime in the future. For now, remember that you're allowed to grieve your loss, no matter what that looks like.
