@AuntGlow I'm finding very difficult to navigate through my difficulties. My counsellor suggested not making another appointment last time I saw her, but leaving it open for me to return. I'm not sure why and had already been troubled by her lack of professionalism re billing and accounts.
The psychologist troubled me too. I like her and we relate well but I refused to outsource my plan of action to ChatGPT. And she and a family member hold antithetical views which is awkward. I've also been very nervous about embarking on EMDR as she recommends, because I can't face confronting a lifetime of "trauma" - it's not as though there were only a few specific traumatic events.
My preferred gp is sympathetic but booked well in advance, and recently a colleague at the practice who'd treated me several times and actually written referrals refused to discuss mental health concerns saying they weren't her responsibility.
My psychiatrist last time remarked on my current lack of professional supports. He limits himself to monitoring my medication.
So things are up in the air. I find my family situation extraordinarily difficult but my efforts to arrange family therapy fell through. I've also tried asking for legal advice but the solicitor brushed me off. I'd hoped my counsellor (a social worker) could help guide me.
The counsellor had said repeatedly things were outside of my control. But I've persevered. I've chosen to try working with a support worker again to get on top of household issues and provide me with moral support. It's a roller-coaster ride as I think a family member has undiagnosed BPD as well as other problems I try to make allowances for.
You suggested talking things through but I don't think there are any easy answers.
