Winter solstice

Winter solstice

Longest night of the year and the darkness and coldness have really hit. Things seem really bleak. I've been struggling for a long time and was pacing myself to this point but can't see beyond it. I'm safe but despairing. I'm trapped in a vortex of family dysfunction from earliest years and emotional pain, received and (mea culpa) inflicted. I can't help my closest sibling - all others are estranged - and I don't seem able to extricate myself from personal difficulties and dilemmas that at present ďefine me - I have no connections or other identity. I've lost faith in my mh team.

I guess the sun will rise tomorrow, and I'll keep taking one day at a time, but I can't envision a future, my future.

Re: Winter solstice

Thanks for explaining, @Dimity .

I think your tiredness is more than just physical 😥🫂

Yes, we got a little rain here. Did you end up getting any?

Re: Winter solstice

No, we got no more than a few drops @NatureLover .

You're right, my fatigue seems more than physical. It's the anniversary of the very rough patch last year. And a lot's happened the last few weeks. I need psychological and practical support with my family issues but it all seems too hard and too expensive so I'm taking it slowly. I'm trying to do at least one or two difficult things each day, which is all I have spoons for at the moment.

It's past my bedtime again... take care

Re: Winter solstice

Sorry to hear you only got a few drops of rain, @Dimity .

One or two difficult things each day is good. Well done.

What time is your bedtime? I'm curious.

Re: Winter solstice

The trouble is I don't have a regular bedtime @NatureLover . I can lose track of time especially if i nod off sitting in the livingroom and go to bed at a ridiculous time.

I have to be up earlyish for a plumber tomorrow I had to refuse his preferred time as I simply wouldn't wake in time. I often sleep through alarms.

Re: Winter solstice

@Dimity I often fall asleep on top of my bed with all the lights on...similar to you by the sound of it.

Good luck with the plumber today, and with waking up for his arrival. Gosh you've had a lot of expenses lately.

Re: Winter solstice

@NatureLover yes it's been expensive lately. Another reason for stepping back from mh support. But really it's just too hard to face it at present. Maybe that's a trust issue.

The plumbers did a good job, I was impressed by their carefulness. I'm glad I didn't get the handyman back, I doubt he would have had the skills or tools.

Any routines I've had seem derailed at present, and I didn't walk before the rain came. I've mislaid my to-do lists... but I know I'm behind on a lot of things. A good night's sleep would help.

Sounds like we both need to plan our bedtimes better.

Re: Winter solstice

Hi @Dimity , I hope you were able to get a good night's sleep last night...

Glad you were pleased with the plumbers.

The worry about letting MH support lapse is the long wait of months trying to get back in. 😥 But I do understand not being able to face it. I wonder if you'd be able to face it more if the psychologist wasn't pushing EMDR, but you could just do talk therapy? (Although I know talk therapy can be tough!)

Re: Winter solstice

@NatureLover I've just signed up with a support worker once a fortnight, and don't think i can afford the psychologist as well. But gosh it will be hard to push through my issues and the family issues to do what I need to do, so might have to end up seeing the psychologist anyway.

I'm in quite a muddle at present. I have several quiet days coming up so hopefully I'll get by.

I hope you weren't too worried or upset by your meeting today. I know it wouldn't have been easy for you.

Re: Winter solstice

I'm sorry you can't afford both, @Dimity 😢

What day of the week is your support worker on?

I hope the quieter days help / have helped.

Thank you for your kind words. The meeting with my father went OK; I'm glad it's over.

Re: Winter solstice

Hello lovely,

Just checking how your eyes are feeling this week? @Dimity

It's not okay that you have been let down and felt unsupported by your healthcare professionals, and additionally, that you have had to advocate for yourself so many times.

I hope the introduction of your support worker will allow you to feel like someone else is in this with you. When do they start? 💛

I know that you have talked about medical gaslighting and your experiences as well @Appleblossom. What does your care team look like right now? 💛
