My Place

My Place

Hi guys,

I just wanted to have a thread where I could talk about things that make me happy without bothering anyone else.

So on Sunday a week ago I planted some seeds into a metal tub. Some veggie seeds. Carrots, garlic chives and although it’s not the season for it I threw in some cucumber seeds.

Well yesterday, only a week after planting I noticed my first little green shoot. Then today, there are a bunch of green shoots. Funnily enough I think it’s the cucumbers that have come up first. I may have to make a cloche to help them grow in the cooler weather. The tub is sitting on a concrete path so hopefully that will help keep the soil a bit warmer. I moved them a bit more into the sunshine today as we noticed that the carport was casting shade on them quite early in the afternoon.

I am so happy to see their green little faces pushing up from under that dark earth. Gives me hope in all things. I love to watch things grow. It makes me happy to think that I have played a part in that.

Every day I water them and have a chat with them. How are you today my seeds? I hope that you will grow soon! Now I can encourage them to grow bigger and stronger.

I can’t wait to set up my other veggie garden and grow more things. I am especially looking forward to planting my tomatoes come spring.

Re: My Place

I think this is a reasonable request, could others please refrain from tagging Jay5 further in this thread? Thanks everyone 😊

@Jynx

He never asked me not to tag him and I only did so because he’s interested in gardening. Don’t worry I wont include him again

@ArraDreaming

Thanks for apologising. I talk mainly about my gardening exploits on this thread with a few other things thrown in.

Thanks @Eve7

I just like having a place to record things in to look back at later. If it brings joy to someone else, all the better!

Hi guys. I have been busy in the garden. I bought some new raised garden beds just before spring started. I have since started planting into 3 out of 4 of them. I am growing beetroot, turnips and carrots. The carrots didn't come up so I replanted them yesterday. I put in more beetroot, turnips and carrots. The second bed has about 20 cos lettuce seedlings. The third bed has tomatoes, capsicums and 2 tiny eggplant seedlings. The last bed I intend on planting sweetcorn into. Out the back I am trying to grow a bunch of different varieties of pumpkins. Also some watermelons. My rhubarb is getting bigger and I am excited about that as I love rhubarb but I can't harvest any of that for at least a year. So next Spring perhaps for that. I am also growing common mint, potatoes, basil, parsley, thyme and oregano. Some of those are looking a little unwell. Mainly the parsley. I just moved the basil out of the greenhouse. I think it was getting a little hot. I also have a nice little bay tree growing in a pot. My lemon tree has new leaves on it now. It got a bit shredded in a recent storm. My lime tree has some baby lemons on it but I am not sure that any are going to set. It is still young so waiting to see. If it doesn't set fruit I will pop some more fertiliser on it.
