Piecing the shattered glass together

Piecing the shattered glass together

I decided to start a new thread, my new chapter in my life is going to focus on healing my traumas, building resilience and self-worth and taking the steps of achieving mood stability. I am praying this year will be better than the last. Last year the SI got really intense, was so close to losing hope and I felt like my heart was breaking into a million pieces like shattered glass. It all still feels overwhelming, I have a long way to go on my healing journey, but I think I'm starting to feel a bit more hopeful about the future.

Hugs my dear @creative_writer .

I think depression in itself is hard to understand. Does one ever fully understand why they often feel low for no apparent reason?

@tyme, emotions don’t always make sense. I’m actually starting to think if I’ve developed a tolerance to meds, daily migraines, extreme depressive symptoms, I was not like this a couple of years ago. The other thing could be I’ve been carrying a lot of emotions without realising so now they are being released. Though I reckon it’s probably the combination of tolerance +suppressed emotions

Who knows? @creative_writer . And it's not like you can wake up one day and your MH is totally fine...

I think sometimes we don't see the subtle changes until we look back and have something to compare it to. That's how I've certainly felt.

I remember years of low, low, and very low.... it didn't seem like there was any break from the low... but looking back, I can see there were 'breaks'.

I really hope one day things even out and you can get to a stable functioning self.

I hear it is so up and down right now, and that's why we want to be here for you.

Also, remember that when you come to the forums, often, people are posting in distress. Don't see this as people don't recover, because there are plenty who have done so well after being on the forums that they no longer feel they need that extra padding of support from the forums.

It depends of what you want to achieve from the forums.

I can sort of see this happening for you. As you move on in life e.g. finish your studies, work, get married, have children or whatever, gradually, you'll find you have less time for the forums. I honestly have great hopes for you. I can see your values and your empathetic nature. You have so much to give and such a heart to help others.

It is hard now, but it won't be hard forever.

Hugs, tyme

@tyme, it’s been very low to mildly low. I don’t feel like I get any normalcy and I don’t know when I will get it. Depression is pretty much present almost all the time, it’s very exhausting. I had reached normalcy years ago, just don’t know how to get there again

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together

When you reached 'normalcy', did you feel it as normalcy?

Also, what did you do last time to get there? @creative_writer

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together

@tyme, I started seeing a new psychiatrist (who I was with for a while), had my meds adjusted and felt stabilised. I got stabilised to the point I only saw the Pdoc once a month and didn’t need a psych. I felt normalcy at that point, I sort of stopped considering myself depressed. I don’t even know when the depression returned, I think it crept in. I’m on the same meds, but don’t feel stabilised.

Waiting on hold for SCBS, I feel so over it. I really don't want to go to the hospital, I need to try to stay safe at home even though I don't want to. Life feels too hopeless 😩

Hi @creative_writer

I read you're not doing too good atm...

Am sorry to hear that. 🙏💛

Have you found time to do anything leisurely today?

@Kyle1, haven’t been able to do much. Listened to some music, watched some tv with lunch. Now I am lying in bed with a sore head 😰. Have you been up to much this afternoon?

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together

Yeah, sort of...I went to church. Today they spoke of how, even if we can't see around corners or understand what might be happening in our lives st present, God can and God has 'got this'...

Then I took my daughters out to a fair. My intention was to quickly make the rounds and leave them to their fun. But I ended up staying the afternoon, and even helping with the packing up... bumped into some friends (who I really love) and it was a beautiful sunny day in the out of doors.

I felt a strange mix of self conscious but sedate amidst the crowd. Enjoyed me an apple sorbet !
