I decided to start a new thread, my new chapter in my life is going to focus on healing my traumas, building resilience and self-worth and taking the steps of achieving mood stability. I am praying this year will be better than the last. Last year the SI got really intense, was so close to losing hope and I felt like my heart was breaking into a million pieces like shattered glass. It all still feels overwhelming, I have a long way to go on my healing journey, but I think I'm starting to feel a bit more hopeful about the future.

@tyme, navigating around the MH system has also been challenging and the costs also do add up. I feel like many health professionals are charging the gap too. I just hope at the end of the day it is worth it. I am really exhausted from MI and feel like I've hit a brick wall, not sure where to go from here.

I'm hearing you. Costs are certainly going up and now it seems that your health is based on your wealth @creative_writer - sad state of affairs. I thought it was bad enough for me, but I can only see cost of everything going up. I really don't have an answer @creative_writer .
As I said, all my supports were in the public system so I never paid anything.

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together
@tyme, there is still medication costs, one of my meds is private, Pdoc appointments are really expensive too, don’t think many Pdocs bulk bill or charge low gap fees. My old pdoc had a low gap fee, haven’t been able to find a more economical one since. At least I am still living with parents, there is no way I can afford living alone, I don’t work and live off Centrelink payments plus parents.

I'm totally hearing you @creative_writer . I totally agree how unaffordable things have become.

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together
Does anyone have any ideas on where to begin when discussing MH with GP?

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together
Just come right out and say "I have concerns about my mental health" ... and your GP might ask what they are and they will assess your symptoms as you share your experience... Might be a questionnaire involved. A "mental health plan". Referrals... @creative_writer

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together
@Kyle1, GP can see my medical history, just doesn't know about the intensity of SI and how much support I have because things have been hard. I can feel myself spiralling again, but I must do something for a bit to take my mind off things because this isn't working right now or I will end up intensely suicidal and I don't feel like going to the hospital, so gotta keep myself safe by myself.

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together
@creative_writer have you considered asking, or do you already take, meds?

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together
@Kyle1, I take four different types of meds, all that is on record. My bouts of suicidality isn’t really known by my GP. Only my pdoc would adjust meds, not GP.

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together
I went out last night. Felt rather awkward but I pushed through and ended up having some fun with a small bunch of others. Hugs all round - that was nice. But then it all crashed for me and I'm not sure I understand it... or maybe I do, but don't want to pay attention...
