Piecing the shattered glass together

Piecing the shattered glass together

I decided to start a new thread, my new chapter in my life is going to focus on healing my traumas, building resilience and self-worth and taking the steps of achieving mood stability. I am praying this year will be better than the last. Last year the SI got really intense, was so close to losing hope and I felt like my heart was breaking into a million pieces like shattered glass. It all still feels overwhelming, I have a long way to go on my healing journey, but I think I'm starting to feel a bit more hopeful about the future.

Yep, I gave up on the claw covers cause they kept falling off. That’s when I stopped caring about the couch!

If ya have animals and or kids, don’t expect to have a nice couch!

@Bow, it’s true couches are likely to be scratched on various degrees depending on the cat. I think the main thing is as long as the cat doesn’t do anything particularly dangerous like climb up the blinds, I think it’s liveable.

Cats are…. Entertaining creatures for sure @creative_writer i have them lace type curtains in my room. I need to replace one,… 2 massive holes. The way my cat runs and jumps up high at the screen door. My ginger boy has just been climbing all over my night stand, he up inside the light shade, tipping things everywhere trying to catch a big of some kind. He likes to follow me around too. Sits at the bathroom and toilet door waiting for me. Knows when it’s dinner time and follows me. He loves a good belly rub too…. Until his had enough and attacks me. Belly’s are a cats most sensitive area, if they roll on their backs and let you rub their belly then they trust you. I hope I’m convincing you to get a cat 🙂 oh and their purrrrrr is so soothing!!

@Bow, I think my blinds are way too slippery to be climbed safely. Cats are indeed entertaining. I feel like cats have an internal clock in them, they know when to expect food. I would be too scared to let a cat in the bathroom, I would make it wait outside too, funny how cats do that. I do want a kitty, just not sure where to put the litter box yet 🙂

Oh they do have an internal clock @creative_writer ! My cats certainly know when it’s food time and they don’t stop until they get fed. My little foster boy was so very timid and shy when he first came to us. I would have to go find him it was good time, carry him to his bowl. Then he started sitting near the chair in my room. It’s been so nice seeing him become more relaxed. He now hangs around at the bottom of the stairs waiting for food now.

My old cat (gosh I still miss him, his been gone 8yrs now) he use to sit at the cupboard door where we kept the cat food and just stare at it until someone would feed him. Like nearly nose to the door. he was an amazing cat, always knew when I wasn’t in a good place and wouldn’t leave my side. I was devastated when I had to put him sleep. I cried for days and took 3 days off work!

I’ve usually always had the litter box in the laundry. They also work in bathrooms too. We have a spare room now. Well it’s actually a massive room with a spa in it which we don’t use. It’s a store room/ sewing room/exercise room and the cats room!

@Bow, they do grow comfortable over time. A lot of cats tends to be shy at first. One of our neighbours cat was really shy at first and now she think she owns our backyard too. I’ve seen her slap the cunning arrogant cat too, she has grown into something. She also like rubbing herself onto us and somehow thinks she owns us, even though this isn’t even her home.

I’m sorry about your old cat, that would’ve been so hard. I feel like pet grief is disenfranchised grief.

I read a meme years ago @creative_writer something along the lines of dogs having owners and cats having staff. Thought nothing could be more true!
