I decided to start a new thread, my new chapter in my life is going to focus on healing my traumas, building resilience and self-worth and taking the steps of achieving mood stability. I am praying this year will be better than the last. Last year the SI got really intense, was so close to losing hope and I felt like my heart was breaking into a million pieces like shattered glass. It all still feels overwhelming, I have a long way to go on my healing journey, but I think I'm starting to feel a bit more hopeful about the future.

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together
@Kyle1, honestly I thought I was good to go, I guess healing isn’t linear, I am also sleep deprived. It also feels so dark, days feel so short, I tend to feel pretty flat especially later into the day, I’ve been trying so hard to gaslight myself into thinking it doesn’t affect me but clearly it’s not working right now 😞.

Excuse me if I'm preaching (I used to do this but don't anymore) but have you tried exercising? ..
It releases feel good endorphins, and leaves you 'organically tired'... ?

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together
@Kyle1, I used to exercise all the time, it’s just been hard, migraines 😭, or maybe I should try a slow walk in the morning (provided it’s not raining) when pain tends to be lower, afternoons are often bad. Self care:prayer, breathing, imagery, nature sounds, watching tv, reading (if I am up for it), uplifting and funny cat videos. I hope you can do something gentle for yourself today 💖

I'm very much a dog person, but funny cat videos are the best!

@Kyle1, cats are something. I’ve been thinking of adopting a kitten. I’m afraid of most dogs.

if you can manage the price, Russian blues are great! But so are Siamese... very personable- except they can be quite loud! @creative_writer

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together
I'm a dog person @creative_writer@Kyle1 . Believe it or not, I used to be utterly terrified of dogs - to the point of hyperventilating and having panic attacks. Over time, I wanted to get over it so through gradual exposure, I absolutely love dogs now. It started off reading about dog, then looking at pictures of dogs, then watching documentaries with dogs in them, until I finally came to owning one. Even when I got my labrador as a puppy, I was scared. But it didn't let it get to me. Over time, I grew to love this puppy. Then I got a second dog!
Since then, I really love dogs - the bigger the better!

Labradors are THE BEST DOG.
It's not about a Lab, but have you seen the movie Togo? @tyme
It's one of the greatest dog movies! And a true story...
