Piecing the shattered glass together

Piecing the shattered glass together

I decided to start a new thread, my new chapter in my life is going to focus on healing my traumas, building resilience and self-worth and taking the steps of achieving mood stability. I am praying this year will be better than the last. Last year the SI got really intense, was so close to losing hope and I felt like my heart was breaking into a million pieces like shattered glass. It all still feels overwhelming, I have a long way to go on my healing journey, but I think I'm starting to feel a bit more hopeful about the future.

Hi again @creative_writer

It sux that you were invalidated by your psych...

But you mentioned that you've been able to think clearly and process things. Why do you think you've been able to so? Is there something you can identify that has helped with this improvement? Could it be as simple as opening your morning blinds?..

@Kyle1, it was my counsellor not psychologist. It might sound a bit strange to have a psychologist and counsellor but I can’t see my psych every week. My psych is the person I can really open up to the most, she has known me the longest, knows my history. I now have a pdoc, I am hoping seeing him helps. Maybe opening the blinds straight away in the morning is regulating my circadian rhythms, brain works in strange ways.

Do you think sometimes there's an element of 'overthinking'? @creative_writer

Sometimes, we can't hear our own body anymore because we 'know' so much. Allow yourself to feel. It hurts, but this is also part of recovery.

We are with you and know that things will improve.

@tyme, maybe I am worrying too much about what hasn't come. I get caught up in control mode at times, I like it when life is predictable and when you can plan around it, but I know the world does not work that way, I have to accept the uncertainty of life. I will monitor my mood until my Pdoc appointment and see what patterns I notice.

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together

Pre-planning, contemplating and predicting has its benefits in some ways, yet it can also open up a world of anxiety and stress that one is no longer 'in control'. @creative_writer

Focusing on this may mean forgetting to live in the now.

NOW is the time you can make a difference. NOW is what you are in control of.

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together

Doesn't sound strange to have a psychologist AND a counsellor to me. I see both those supports, aswell. @creative_writer . Mind you, it seemed to take me a while to get appointments and meeting times, but I did make such a fuss here and there that openings appeared sooner rather than later. And no doubt I had some divine assistance on the way, aswell. Sometimes I look at parts of my life and think "no way did I do that! That is of some higher power than I"...

I hope you're off to a good start this morning! 💛🙏

@tyme @Kyle1, I am feeling disappointed right now, I had high hopes for today and thought I would be okay today, I certainly felt okay this morning. I am starting to feel a bit down now and I just want to go to sleep and not do anything, it just sort of happened 😞

There are 2 choices:

1) Allow your body to feel this and tell your body it's okay; or

2) Tell your body you will push through for a little longer and then have a rest.

There is no right or wrong. Take your pick @creative_writer

@tyme, I think I will be having an early night today. Thought I could survive on 7hrs or a bit less of sleep, I guess not. I probably should’ve tried sleeping an hour longer, but just kept waking up.

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together

Same thing happened to me today...! It's awfully frustrating, isn't it?

I woke up nice.

Crashed - emotionally.

I went out for couple hours work, which caused me so much anxiety!!

Now it's over with, I'm just so relieved. But still so frustrated with this daily instability...

I'm wondering what you've tried this afternoon to deal, @creative_writer ?
