Piecing the shattered glass together

Piecing the shattered glass together

I decided to start a new thread, my new chapter in my life is going to focus on healing my traumas, building resilience and self-worth and taking the steps of achieving mood stability. I am praying this year will be better than the last. Last year the SI got really intense, was so close to losing hope and I felt like my heart was breaking into a million pieces like shattered glass. It all still feels overwhelming, I have a long way to go on my healing journey, but I think I'm starting to feel a bit more hopeful about the future.

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together

Monday was deep soaked in misery and rain. I came out of the house. I had to, or else hurt myself... On the short drive home I passed by a girl dressed all in black. She was pencil thin, with a black umbrella overhead, as though the Monday had blossomed into a flower of gloom in her hand. And the pencil thin figure drew a straight line along the edge of the road while the sky wept...

I think I said too much during my pdoc appointment, now I’m scared to go back 😓.

I guess what I'm trying to say is there might be something meaningful or of beauty to be found even in dark moments... If we can manage to look for them. Easier said then done, I know; but sometimes we don't have to do anything except open our eyes ...

@Kyle1, I know there is beauty out there. Grappling with feelings of shame right now. Does my Pdoc think I’m an idiot? I couldn’t stop it. I know God forgives but I don’t forgive myself.

There's no way your pdoc thinks you're an idiot. @creative_writer

You might be feeling awkward and self conscious at the moment because you let slip some personal detail that you weren't ready for.

But let's look at this: that detail is part of your story. And your pdoc is a professional working to help you. You can not un-ring the bell, and it sounds like this was a bell that needed to be rung for you...

Could be where your healing begins??..

@Kyle1, I don’t think I was ready. I mean it’s different with my psychologist and counsellor since I’ve known them for longer so I can talk to them, but I don’t know this pdoc well yet. I could’ve lied and said it never happened to me but I told the bitter truth. The thing is I grew up in a conservative Muslim household, it’s kind of off limits to talk about such trauma, it’s a cultural not a religious thing.

Yeah, I see the complexity... @creative_writer

But it seems to me that the trauma is trauma, irrespective of religion and culture... It's personal. And if your pdoc is any good at their job they will need to know the trauma that has impacted you as a person. You told your personal truth.

@Kyle1, that’s true, maybe I’m just overthinking. The appointment is in two weeks time, I got it moved earlier because I suspect there might be a seasonal component to my mood, thought it would be better to address it sooner rather than later. I don’t think he knows about the seasonal stuff (unless my psychologist has mentioned it to him), it’s kind of hard to explain everything in one appointment.

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together

Yeah, overthinking can be normal too though... I think they call it "ruminating".

I had a person introduce themselves the other day. They were playing for a crowd and stopped just to shake my hand and say hello. Silly me dwelled on that anxiously for the rest of the day!
