Piecing the shattered glass together

Piecing the shattered glass together

I decided to start a new thread, my new chapter in my life is going to focus on healing my traumas, building resilience and self-worth and taking the steps of achieving mood stability. I am praying this year will be better than the last. Last year the SI got really intense, was so close to losing hope and I felt like my heart was breaking into a million pieces like shattered glass. It all still feels overwhelming, I have a long way to go on my healing journey, but I think I'm starting to feel a bit more hopeful about the future.

Oh, I see...

In that case I tick both bereavement and disenfranchise.

So, if that's part of your studies have you got to the part on how to deal with this? Because I'd like to know that, too.

Yasmin also said sadness happens. Pain happens. It's inevitable

Buddhism also talks about this aswell in the form of Samsara wheel...

In the meantime, what have your studies offered in regards to managing? (Is it social work you're studying?) ... @creative_writer

@Kyle1, we have learnt about different therapy approaches a bit and counselling skills. I don’t think there is one approach that fits everyone, one person might like narrative therapy, another person might like CBT. Social workers don’t only provide counselling, there also provide referrals. Social work role can look different in different organisation. Like my tutor for one of my units does more therapy work with individuals, while in some hospital roles social workers may use brief counselling, assessment and refer them out to other relevant services. Some social workers work in policy, that also looks different.

@creative_writer Have you an idea which direction you might take in social work yet?

I did suicide prevention and youth work for a time. It's funny how the tide has shifted in my life!

@Kyle1, I want to do youth mental health, I think I’m more interested in working with youth on an ongoing basis.

I am depressed and wasting time, I am a lost soul 😭. As the skies grow darker, the pain grows deeper.
