Piecing the shattered glass together

Piecing the shattered glass together

I decided to start a new thread, my new chapter in my life is going to focus on healing my traumas, building resilience and self-worth and taking the steps of achieving mood stability. I am praying this year will be better than the last. Last year the SI got really intense, was so close to losing hope and I felt like my heart was breaking into a million pieces like shattered glass. It all still feels overwhelming, I have a long way to go on my healing journey, but I think I'm starting to feel a bit more hopeful about the future.

Hi @Kyle1, feeling better this morning, and the weather is less shitty too 🌞. How are you? 🌻

That's great. 😊 @creative_writer

I know you've been wanting to get some of your studies done... I hope you can accomplish some of your goals today. I've just been listening to Yasmin Mogahed speak about 'intentionality'... All things belong to God, but God has also given us the capacity to act. Sometimes we aren't able to. But sometimes we are.

I'm happy to hear today is better for you!

@Kyle1, Yasmin is a very inspirational person and I love her sensitive approach towards MH. I did look at a video for my uni assignment, it was pretty heavy on traumatic grief and left me in tears, been trying to recharge since. I think that’s enough for now, I can go back to uni a bit later.

Do you have much planned for today?

Well, it sounds like you got something done, none the less... :ok_hand:

I watched a doco last night...where a young mumma elephant lost her calf. I couldn't have imagined how it would upset me so! I think I still have a lot to learn, too...

Not much planned for myself, today. I do have another GP appointment later to change and renew medicines. And a home fire to light, which I find rather calming. Not the lighting of it, just having a good warm fire 😊 One of life's simple pleasures.

Listen close enough and there are stories in there...

@Kyle1, the thing about grief is pretty applicable to many people, even in other contexts that don’t involve bereavement.

I hope the GP appointment goes well and the fire is relaxing and keeps you cozy and warm 🤗

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together

I'd be interested to hear more about that if possible @creative_writer ...

What does that mean; the part about contexts outside of bereavement and such? 🤔

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together

@Kyle1, like I experience grief from traumatic experiences. I feel a loss of sense of safety, I feel like I’ve lost a part of myself. I guess it’s a more disenfranchised grief.

I’ve been thinking. One of the reasons why I feel anxious about seeing the pdoc is because I answered a question I wasn’t ready to during my last appointment. He was asking whether I experienced a particular type of trauma, to which I responded yes. I don’t think I was ready to admit what kind of trauma it was. I didn’t elaborate and he didn’t ask me to.
