I decided to start a new thread, my new chapter in my life is going to focus on healing my traumas, building resilience and self-worth and taking the steps of achieving mood stability. I am praying this year will be better than the last. Last year the SI got really intense, was so close to losing hope and I felt like my heart was breaking into a million pieces like shattered glass. It all still feels overwhelming, I have a long way to go on my healing journey, but I think I'm starting to feel a bit more hopeful about the future.

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together
@Kyle1, if there is a seasonal thing going on which may be deepening the depressive symptoms, the pdoc would be the person to talk to about that. I asked my mum if she thought there was a seasonal issues, she said she doesn’t think so. So I don’t know. Maybe I’m making it up in my mind and the Pdoc appointment would be pointless and wasting his time. Otherwise I have regular counselling sessions and a peer support worker. So it’s not like I don’t have support, I just don’t want to overdo support.

Too many appointments can be very tiring, aswell. @creative_writer
I wouldn't suppose it's a solution, but have you tried herbal supplements before? Like Ashwaganda, or Maca?
Still and all: if you can manage it timewise, it wouldn't hurt to speak with your pdoc and share your thoughts... It's you living with this experience, afterall. Your pdoc should be able to service you better the more transparent you are. Atleast, I would hope so!

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together
@Kyle1, I take migraine supplements, probiotics, vit c and d. I just have to be careful with herbs, I’m on four different types of meds. I really don’t want more meds, I was contemplating SAD lamps, but I would need to discuss it with someone before trying it. I just hope my psychologist has gone through my history a bit too (pdoc is new, only had one appointment), and will talk about the seasonal affect of light on mood.

@creative_writer yes, you're right. You do need to exercise caution, even with herbs. And yeah: who wants to take pill salad everyday??
Have you had your GP check your hormone levels? You may be estrogen dominant... some of the symptoms can include fatigue and constant headache

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together
@Kyle1, I haven’t had my hormones checked for a while. Years ago they were okay, but I do feel something has shifted recently. I experience fatigue on a daily basis, but it just seems to be worse right now.

I am sorry to here that. @creative_writer
It's hard enough being chronically fatigued and having to deal with what may be bipolar, without also having a load of studies and assignments to get through, on top of it all...
You clearly seem like a grounded, intelligent, and caring soul. I'm sure I won't be the only one praying you get through this soon! And God willing, with a little gold to fill in the cracks, also.

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together
@Kyle1, I just don't understand why I have been feeling worse. I had a reasonably okay week, uni was normal, went to a social gathering which was okay, and nothing out of the ordinary happened. I just seem to have crashed on Friday and have been in dumps since then. I know I can't afford to stay like this, I have uni assignments to finish off, and it's really not good for me to be in my head, but I have no energy to leave the house. I am depressed, and anxious and feel so lost, it's torture. I can't go on like this, I fear I am on the road to self-destruction. I cannot even say what I've been thinking about tonight, but I must be strong.

🫂🧡 Gosh, I can totally relate to those feelings! And the horrible thoughts that come along, too...
It's still kind of early in the night: have you anything you're doing with your family?
Do you watch television?

Hello Creative writer, I noticed that you mentioned that you can't go on like this and am wondering if you are all right. Are you aware of Lifeline number 131-114, Suicidal helpline 1300-651-251 that you can contact. You mentioned that you must be strong and I'm just wondering how you manage this or what this means for you. Kind Regards moderator Tallihoe

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together
@Kyle1, I don’t usually watch TV at this time. I’m trying to self-soothe right now because things were getting a little out of hand. I don’t want to say too much on here.
@Tallihoe, I could contact Lifeline or SCBS later if I feel like I need it. Trying to self-regulate and I have family around now, can’t do the thing I was thinking of before. So I’m okay for now. I do at least have an appointment with one of SANE’s peer support workers tom too.
