I decided to start a new thread, my new chapter in my life is going to focus on healing my traumas, building resilience and self-worth and taking the steps of achieving mood stability. I am praying this year will be better than the last. Last year the SI got really intense, was so close to losing hope and I felt like my heart was breaking into a million pieces like shattered glass. It all still feels overwhelming, I have a long way to go on my healing journey, but I think I'm starting to feel a bit more hopeful about the future.

Hey @creative_writer,
I just wanted to stop by and say that I'm sorry you've been struggling so much. I've been there, and it can be a really hard wave to try to ride out. We're talking about Labels & Language on Peer Group Chat tonight if you're feeling up to it and would like to join us- would love to see you there! More info here. Regardless, take good care 💜

I don't know what happened to my reply, but I'll try again...
I was just wondering about the stomach and brain connection - how the microbiome in the entire gut can affect mood and inflammatory response throughout other areas of the body...
Do you have special dietary needs, @creative_writer ?

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together
@TideisTurning, hopefully, next week I'll join. Don't have uni next week, flat out exhausted from a long day.
@Kyle1, it's strange for your reply to disappear. I think my gut needs a lot of improvement, I often struggle with digestive issues. I am mildly lactose intolerant, and can't eat super spicy food, I also try not to eat too much deeply fried and processed food. I also try to eat well, it's just hard to get the body to settle when it's on overdrive.

Me too... when it's really bad I can only stomach banana or bone broth... @creative_writer

There is also a medicine that combats both anxiety and migraine at the same time... I can't mention it on the forums but you might check in with your GP about that option...? @creative_writer

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together
@Kyle1, if it’s really bad, I struggle to eat enough. Nausea and/or heaviness are normal part of my life, that I have to push through small regular meals. It gets a little annoying being told to eat more, like I’m already trying.

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together
Yes, I bet...
Such a shame. MI is bad enough on its own, and can totally demolish appetite! Even worse that when you actually want to, you still can't take pleasure in meals... 😒@creative_writer

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together
@Kyle1, I feel like everyone’s body is different too, last time I had a blood test, there were no deficiencies. I feel like I’m judged for how I look. I don’t enjoy food, it’s hard to enjoy things when you’re depressed, and I’ve become slightly OCD with food, always overly worried about eating the so called “naughty food”.

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together
Oh...OK. What is "naughty food" to you @creative_writer ? Besides fried things...

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together
@Kyle1, fried food, sweets, processed food. I think it’s more of a control thing, when you can’t control your life, you try to control other things and get caught up in perfectionism. Like I have to have a perfect diet. I must have the top uni grades. My hair needs to look a certain way etc.
I know that my body is also sensitive, but I have to admit, there are times when I can afford a little bit of “naughty food”.
