I decided to start a new thread, my new chapter in my life is going to focus on healing my traumas, building resilience and self-worth and taking the steps of achieving mood stability. I am praying this year will be better than the last. Last year the SI got really intense, was so close to losing hope and I felt like my heart was breaking into a million pieces like shattered glass. It all still feels overwhelming, I have a long way to go on my healing journey, but I think I'm starting to feel a bit more hopeful about the future.

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together
@tyme, I hope you slept well.
I reached out to a helpline and got told what I was talking about was not appropriate, so I apologised and left.

Hi @creative_writer
I'm here today moderating the Forums! Thanks for reaching out 😊
There are other services you could try or call back and speak with someone else. You might have to modify what or how you are talking about as there are safe ways to share. If you need immediate support you could consider the Emergency Services or go to the hospital. What has helped you cope in the past when you felt like this or similar things happened?
Take care

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together
@RiverSeal, I spoke to someone else who wasn't sure if there was a miscommunication from the previous chat and said it would probably be best if I called and spoke to specialist counsellor. I haven't ever been told by a helpline service I was discussing something inappropriate, so was not expecting it. I think that chat didn't end so well either, because the first person I got seemed to be interested in if I was safe and nothing else.

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together
@creative_writer yeah crisis support services do need to check that you are safe and not at immediate risk. The people you get will be different and have different experiences and ways of handling calls. It is good to have a Counsellor like some of the helplines offer and it sounds like you have done that already. Do you have services that you call regularly or would you like to try somewhere else? I have used a few different services in the past and had different experiences with support.

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together
@RiverSeal, it's hard when you don't connect with the person you get on the helpline. I still feel like I did something wrong though, maybe I shouldn't have asked, "Did I experience an ...............?" SANE is my first go to during the weekdays, but they're not available today, and who knows if I would've offended someone at SANE by that question.

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together
@RiverSeal, I feel so embarrassed over what I said. I guess I wanted someone to tell me it didn't happen because it would hurt less then. I know people sometimes misuse services, I didn't want to come across that way.

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together
These thoughts after something has happened are hard to deal with and I totally understand wanting to take it back. Something recently happened to me and I am sitting with uncomfortable feelings and wish it didn't happen. I am just getting on with my life and learning from the experience but it doesn't feel great. I hope to move on and put it behind me soon. Does that resonate with you and do you think that it would work for you @creative_writer?

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together
@RiverSeal. It’s just hard, like I know adversity can lead to personal growth but it’s also really painful and traumatic to go through historical trauma. It felt like I was shunned for asking the question. I wasn’t so much so interested in talking about graphic details of the trauma, I wanted someone to say I didn’t experience that big aspect of the trauma.
