Piecing the shattered glass together

Piecing the shattered glass together

I decided to start a new thread, my new chapter in my life is going to focus on healing my traumas, building resilience and self-worth and taking the steps of achieving mood stability. I am praying this year will be better than the last. Last year the SI got really intense, was so close to losing hope and I felt like my heart was breaking into a million pieces like shattered glass. It all still feels overwhelming, I have a long way to go on my healing journey, but I think I'm starting to feel a bit more hopeful about the future.

I do not see 'failure'. I see resilience. I see perfecting. I see gold in the refiner's fire waiting to come out 'perfect'. I see immense strength and forbearance. @creative_writer Life is a journey.

@tyme, don’t know how long I can go before SH relapse. If I do end up doing it, I’ll try to be safe. Ideally, I should try other things first.

SH is not a sign of 'failure'. It's a sign that you are hurting. @creative_writer . I used to judge myself based on how much I self-harmed, but this alone did not solve the underlying pain.

Rather, look at how far you have come, being able to now share what you have in an open forum. This in itself takes strength.

@tyme, it’s easier on the forums because I’m anonymous. I’m not sure what got into me today. I did have a counselling appointment, though I did wake up cranky too.

As they may say, "got out of the wrong side of bed this morning"?

Maybe allow yourself to be cranky and just let it be?

Be kind to yourself - you deserve it! @creative_writer

I got triggered 😫today in a lecture, maybe should’ve walked out and came five mins later after a particular section was done. I distracted myself with my phone and paid less attention during a certain point in the lecture.

Hey @creative_writer ,

Just read your posts here.

In a way, I want to commend you on being able to find something else (your phone) to zone out of the current trigger. This is actually your coping mechanism and not because you are 'hopeless' or you 'failed'. Over time, you will find other strategies including gradual exposure to triggers; deep breathing; connecting with others; distraction; etc.

You are NOT a failure.
