Piecing the shattered glass together

Piecing the shattered glass together

I decided to start a new thread, my new chapter in my life is going to focus on healing my traumas, building resilience and self-worth and taking the steps of achieving mood stability. I am praying this year will be better than the last. Last year the SI got really intense, was so close to losing hope and I felt like my heart was breaking into a million pieces like shattered glass. It all still feels overwhelming, I have a long way to go on my healing journey, but I think I'm starting to feel a bit more hopeful about the future.

@tyme, that is true. We still have a long way to go, but I think we are headed in the right direction. I feel like trauma and culture safe practices are becoming more emphasised too. It’s so important for health professionals to b sensitive to the needs of clients.

I am too broken 😢💔. It was so hard to get out of bed, woke up miserable. I wish I could say healing done but it isn’t. The worst part of waking up is remembering all the pain. Peace never lasts. A part of me wishes I wasn’t safe, that I could just go.

Hi @creative_writer,

My heart goes out to you - it sounds like this morning has been particularly tough. I really do hope you are okay. Is there someone that you can talk to in person today that can support you and give you a bit of company? Can you speak to your GP or another professional support?

We are always here to support you but as we aren't a crisis service if you do need crisis help at anytime please call one of the following:

Lifeline: 13 11 14 or Crisis Chat

Suicide call back service: 1300 659 467 or online counselling

Samaritans: 135 247

If in immediate danger: 000

I really do hope the day improves for you. Please keep reaching out if you need to - we are here for you.

Warm wishes,

FloatingFeather

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together

@FloatingFeather, I do have a GP today regarding vaccines and uni placement paperwork. I guess I haven’t really developed rapport with any GP yet, I’ve been on the search of a new GP since the old one doesn’t seem to help much anymore. I do have a counselling appointment tom so can talk about it more during then. I could try contacting SANE. I don’t really know who else I can talk to right now.

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together

It's good that you are going to see your GP tomorrow @creative_writer. I have also found it hard to find a good GP that I have rapport with. Hopefully the rapport will build soon - sometimes it just takes a bit of time. It's also good that you will see your counsellor tomorrow so you can touch base with a professional.

I think trying to contact the SANE might be a good idea - I think it would be good if you could talk to someone that could support you a bit more today.

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together

@FloatingFeather 💖. Building rapport takes time, I went to the nicer GP today which was good. It’s nice when they take their time instead of being so rushed.

I’ll touch base with counsellor tom. Today was probably when I noticed SI being more intense than normal. My psych knows my trauma history, I don’t know if I should tell my counsellor too, so I can get more support for it in between psych appointments. I also feel a migraine coming, I really hope I don’t end up with a full blown one.

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together

@creative_writer fingers crossed your migraine doesn't get worse.

Might be a good decision to keep your counsellor in the loop. They might have some differing ideas to help you manage it you know? But of course, only if it feels right/safe for you to do so 💜

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together

@Jynx, that is true. It’s just hard to even admit I experienced SA in the past, and this is without any further details. My psych is the only one on my support team who knows and knows the details too. I don’t even have to provide any details to the counsellor, even just telling about the nature of the trauma without details is a big step. I’ll see how I feel tomorrow during the appointment but I did feel like we were getting closer last session.

If only I could feel worthy and loveable and not have depression, anxiety and shame telling me otherwise 😞 . I'll sit here and do the silent scream. Holding back tears, don't have time for those now.
