Piecing the shattered glass together

Piecing the shattered glass together

I decided to start a new thread, my new chapter in my life is going to focus on healing my traumas, building resilience and self-worth and taking the steps of achieving mood stability. I am praying this year will be better than the last. Last year the SI got really intense, was so close to losing hope and I felt like my heart was breaking into a million pieces like shattered glass. It all still feels overwhelming, I have a long way to go on my healing journey, but I think I'm starting to feel a bit more hopeful about the future.

I know trauma can bring a lot of personal growth and that it’s not my fault. Yet, I feel guilty because I couldn’t save myself for marriage.

That was no way your fault. That was taken from you.
But I do understand

@tyme, I really need to cry but can’t. I think I’ve forgotten how to have a good cry. My heart will feel so much better afterwards, all this trapped pain needs to come out.

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together

@tyme, there are times when I reach out like tonight and it doesn’t help. I don’t want to sound rude, how do I politely exit conversations. I just found it incredibly invalidating that i didn’t have a place to sit with my emotions but it was all about what I could do to help myself. It can be a bit triggering, I grew up having nobody to talk to and felt shunned for showing uncomfortable emotions. Nobody was there for me when I was SA. It’s just breaking me to feel that over again. I guess it’s too much for most people to handle.

Sitting with you @creative_writer .

You deserve all the support you can get.

I hear that sometimes it hurts so much that one can no longer cry. Allow your emotions to run free through your poetry.

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together

@tyme, I do write a few verses sometimes and it does help. I always have poetry even if I can’t express emotions any other way. Maybe I’ve become so used to holding backs tears, that it no longer feels normal and safe to let it all out. I think we do need to teach kids that’s it’s okay to experience big emotions and teach them to self-regulate them.

Very true @creative_writer . I believe kids are now taught much more about emotions etc. It is a department of education requirement.
