Piecing the shattered glass together

Piecing the shattered glass together

I decided to start a new thread, my new chapter in my life is going to focus on healing my traumas, building resilience and self-worth and taking the steps of achieving mood stability. I am praying this year will be better than the last. Last year the SI got really intense, was so close to losing hope and I felt like my heart was breaking into a million pieces like shattered glass. It all still feels overwhelming, I have a long way to go on my healing journey, but I think I'm starting to feel a bit more hopeful about the future.

Hey @creative_writer ,

What's happening tonight for you to post the above?

This is only part of your journey - it doesn't remain this way.

@tyme, ever since I came back from the lunch I’ve been feeling worse. I don’t know if I ate something to make me sick. It’s hard not to get too emotional if I’m not feeling well. I drank lots of water when I came back and had dinner but still feeling yucky.

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together

@tyme, I ate Uyghur noodles, never tried them before. I sure hope my migraine brain didn’t react to that. It’s hard to know what I’ll react today in restaurants, I’ll probably be more careful next time. It also got hot today and I was out, which didn’t help. Maybe should’ve taken water with me, I drank a couple of glasses when I came back, was so thirsty. Migraines have so many triggers 😫. And whenever I get them, I am generally not in an average mood. Usually depressed. The pain can be crippling and can contribute to SI. A GP once told me that I would have to go to emergency to get strong painkillers because GPs can’t prescribe it. Essentially I either live with the pain or go to ED. I can get another opinion from another GP tom. I can’t go to ED after every bad migraine. I swear, my regular GP is like, “I’m doing things my way, don’t question me”.

Ouchy @creative_writer . I feel for you. As much as I've has physical pain the past, I wouldn't have the slightest clue what it means to have it all the time - coupled with MH....

My MH condition was severe enough...adding physical on top of that.... i really don't know.

Please take care - you are a real fighter. The universe chose you for a reason.

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together

@tyme, my regular GP is really infuriating me. I had an appointment to get a medical cert on Friday, and he is so set in his ways. This was a phone call, I could pick up on the tone of his voice. I just asked a simple “could you please add….to the cert”. Then he becomes defensive and says it’s not his job to elaborate. I mean he could’ve said in a nicer way that he didn’t feel comfortable adding that instead of going on a whole rant about how it is wrong. I don’t mean to trigger his anxiety or defensiveness, it just happens.

Life is just shit right now 😫. MH, physical health and GP treating me like a little annoying girl who needs a lecture.

Sounds like bedside manner is lacking? @creative_writer . Sorry to all those GPs out there, but I have seen that is quite common....

Anyhoooo.... would you want to stay with that GP? Surely you should feel comfortable with them?

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together

@tyme, there are amazing doctors out there who listen. One of the GPs in the clinic left, I was thinking of transferring to him. I don’t blame him, it’s a very stressful job, and I hope he does well, I think he wanted to do a specialisation. Now, I’m going to a new clinic tom to see if I work well with one of the female GPs. My regular GP did teach me something important, if you go into the health profession, you gotta take self-care seriously and manage triggers. He started off well but is experiencing the burn out effect.

Arghhh, fair enough @creative_writer - makes sense.

I just hope you get heard and receive the care you deserve.

As for tomorrow, before I log off, are you going to uni?

@tyme, I have only one class tom, so decided to take that one online. The rest on my classes are on Thursday, on campus.
