Piecing the shattered glass together

Piecing the shattered glass together

I decided to start a new thread, my new chapter in my life is going to focus on healing my traumas, building resilience and self-worth and taking the steps of achieving mood stability. I am praying this year will be better than the last. Last year the SI got really intense, was so close to losing hope and I felt like my heart was breaking into a million pieces like shattered glass. It all still feels overwhelming, I have a long way to go on my healing journey, but I think I'm starting to feel a bit more hopeful about the future.

@scout1572, it’s nice to meet you. I do find MH can affect definitely affect you’re ability to work and study. I am currently studying and super stressed out for next semester starting next week. I’m more of a writer, but I think it’s pretty cool you did graphic designing and art. I’m glade you are feeling okay today. It’s warming up here too.

Not really okay today, I think I’ll be lucky if I don’t do anything too destructive to cope with my emotions. I’m safe though, but I really want to SH, but I’m not supposed to.

@amber22 ♥️, I honestly thought flashbacks were gone but still had them yesterday. I’m scared of it happening again, I don’t want to feel it again. I wish I could say I was healed and that it was all behind me, but it isn’t. It’s amplified the shame I carry everyday. Toxic shame is so hard to break free from, even when it doesn’t belong to you.

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together

hey @creative_writer

i hear all of that. Firstly i am not familiar with the anacronim SH, what is that... i would guess it means swear or shout out etc....

i understand re destructive behaviour and it has been coming to a head for me. When you are alone for so long and noone visits or calls... you start to feel that ANY interaction with others is a win, whether that be positive or counter productive.

I have found myself in my garden yelling at the top of my lungs in my past.

It was not great, but better than being unsafe like drinking at a bar, around the wrong people or substance abuse.

I got close to that point again very recently, with a particular stressful situation completely enveloping my thoughts...

..i made it clear that i did not want to do anything that would make my life any harder so i diffused myself... but it was an all consuming process..

...know that if i could come and go for a walk with you, i am sure we could find something interesting to talk about...

...lets pretend that walk just started... what sort of things interest you? :0)

That is completely valid and totally understandable, what you have gone through can sneak up on you sometimes and it is really hard to shake off ❤️ I am sitting with you while you're feeling like this and I've just sent you an email checking in as well. You're not alone! @creative_writer

@scout1572, SH is self harm. It’s not the most helpful strategy to use for coping with distress, I know, so far I’ve resisted, still trying. Today’s just been rough. I think screaming is an underrated strategy, I don’t do it because I don’t want my family to hear. I cry occasionally at night when I am alone. I also did some writing today to express some of my thoughts, and sometimes music sort of inspires you. Do you use art as a form of expression?

@amber22, I’ve responded to the email ♥️

@creative_writer

Thank you for SH info. SH can come in many forms and i have seen it manifested many times.

for me it is me just staying away from others. I dont fit in and i am in the wrong environment... so i just stay at home.. which is SH in a sense.

Screaming is a release of energy. Crying is too but if you try to muffle it then its not really allowing that release.

As a teenager, i had to learn martial arts as i was bullied every day for most of my schooling... and i accidentally stumbled onto the idea of energy release.

i had an old wardrobe out in my garden and when i got just too angy and frustrated... i would go out and kick and punch the wardrobe. It took it like a champ but was eventually sacrificed to the sanity gods but was an honouralbe demise.

It made me aware that energy build up in us... especially mental enery... seems to be the most powerful and in this modern world, the energy that seems to have been given little avenues for escape. Puching that wardrope took the energy from me and into that benign item... and it helped.

Dont hurt furniture. furniture needs love too. but hitting rocks with a stick is essantially the same thing, same as throwing around a ball or tennis ball, or other exersion exercises...

worst thing i ever did re art for myself was to do it professionally. when you get paid to do it it makes it less fun from experience to do recreationally...

...but i love to doodle.. i can do elaborate doodles and go thru lots of paper, opened empty cardboard boxes and packaging... and doodling is drawing without the pressure of creating art... its just lines on paper and i can do as much as i want or not...

do you write in a particular genre? ...or just what inspires you
