My family has been estranged for a long time, @Pippijanet. It will always hurt because I, too, have been the family scapegoat, blamed for everything including things I hadn't done. The most hurtful thing I do to myself is to allow myself to hope something will work itself out, but it won't. Perhaps yours will be different. Many families reconcile.
I watch 'Long Lost Families' every day. It warms my heart to see families lost and found, who have spent their lives yearning for their missing family. I enjoy their happiness vicariously. Mine will never reconcile.
I hope you're doing alright. I had a happy childhood so xmas cheerfulness, as we go about, doesn't sadden me. It just reminds me of the time when my birth family was a unit, and life's trials and tribulations were as yet unknown. I remember too, piling gifts under the tree for my own children, and their joy at opening their presents. My marriage was never happy though.
Take care of yourself @Pippijanet. Do whatever you need to get yourself through this time. You're not alone in this situation. Many people do not celebrate the day and many others have no-one to celebrate it with. Don't let it get you down or they will win.
I don't know what else to say. I hope you are doing alright. There's always this forum to turn to whenever you need—on xmas day, too.

Take care.
