Not Coping

Not Coping

Hey everyone how are you all?

@RiverSeal @Shaz51 @NatureLover @tyme @Former-Member @Eve7 @Former-Member @amber22 @Jynx @FloatingFeather

I'm not doing great at all today. I'm feeling down. I also keep beating myself up for everything and feel like I'm just failing. I need a break from everything. It's getting so hard that I don't know how to keep going anymore especially since I can't talk to anyone around me as they are leaving me or don't understand.

Hope you don’t mind me reaching out I just really need a chat and though I could come on here and vent and talk for a bit.

Thank you

@Birdofparadise8 am very glad to hear that, I appreciate you letting me know 💜

Yeah I can only imagine how exhausting and overwhelming it is - take it one step, one breath at a time.

Re: Tw Not Coping

I just don’t understand why I am trying to end it all when people are fighting every day to be alive as they fight cancer or malnutrition.

It makes me more sad thinking about that. I just don’t know why I do @Jynx @creative_writer

Re: Tw Not Coping

@Birdofparadise8 your pain is valid. Even a small injury is still an injury, it’s still going to hurt and if left unattended, it can still get infected. SI is probably more common than many people realise, life can be tough.

Re: Tw Not Coping

@Birdofparadise8 I can understand that. Really. Guilt is really, really hard sometimes.

In my experience, both working in mental health and with my own mental health struggles, I have found that suicide ideation is a reaction to extreme circumstances. The pain and trauma are so overwhelming that the mind must find an equally extreme way to deal with it all. So whilst there are definitely people out there with intense circumstances like cancer that they have to deal with, it doesn't mean your own circumstances aren't just as intense - they're just different.

@Jynx what’s your stance on forgiveness? What if you can’t forgive someone for what they put you through? But I don’t think holding a grudge is any helpful either?

Re: Tw Not Coping

A tricky one @creative_writer and can be very personal, but I will give you my take.

Forgiveness isn't about the other person. It's about yourself. It doesn't make what they did okay. It doesn't absolve them. It is the process of you no longer holding onto that which is a thorn in your side. You don't even have to tell them.

Sometimes it is trying to see things from their point of view - understand the circumstances surrounding the choice they made. Sometimes, it's simply the act of letting go of pain so that you can move forward.

I also really love the quote - I think it may have been Buddha who said it: "Holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die."

Holding a grudge, in my opinion, is an enormous waste of energy. Another quote, this time from Bob Ross: "I can't afford to hate people. I don't have that kind of time."

Sometimes the only way to move forward is to break free of the other person's narrative. Hate, grudges, regret, they're all still part of their narrative.

What do you think?
