Not Coping

Not Coping

Hey everyone how are you all?

@RiverSeal @Shaz51 @NatureLover @tyme @Former-Member @Eve7 @Former-Member @amber22 @Jynx @FloatingFeather

I'm not doing great at all today. I'm feeling down. I also keep beating myself up for everything and feel like I'm just failing. I need a break from everything. It's getting so hard that I don't know how to keep going anymore especially since I can't talk to anyone around me as they are leaving me or don't understand.

Hope you don’t mind me reaching out I just really need a chat and though I could come on here and vent and talk for a bit.

Thank you

Re: Not Coping

Hi @creative_writer

How are you?

I'm just working on a lab report.

Re: Not Coping

Yes dearest - my apologies for the confusion! Old lady syndrome! @Birdofparadise8

your hypothesis is great - the only thing I think it could benefit from is the addition of some of the information which is in your title, outlining that you are contrasting what you have already got in your hypotheses against other areas of the body🙂🌺

that would then make your hypothesis line up with your title description 🌺

Re: Not Coping

@Birdofparadise8 Heaps better, and if I may, I add one suggestion:

We hypothesise that higher tactile acuity, particularly the higher density of mechanoreceptors and larger cortical representation through the comparison of peripheral body regions of the fingers with other distal body regions of the hand, is linked with finer two-point discrimination and lower localisation of error.

this clarifies and defines the comparison parameters.. feel free to fine-tune as you see fit🙌🏻🙂

Re: Not Coping

I added a comparison, and mechanoreceptors are a type of Cutaneous Receptor.

@Former-Member

Okay, thank you. I'll have a play around with it.

Hey there @creative_writer 💜🤗

thank you 🙂🌺

and same back to you 🌺

how are you this evening?

Re: Not Coping

Here we go, the final one, hahaha. @Former-Member

We hypothesise that higher tactile acuity, particularly the higher density of mechanoreceptors and larger cortical representation through the comparison of peripheral body regions of the forefinger and other distal and proximal body regions of the hand and forearm, which is linked with finer two-point discrimination and lower localisation of error.

Re: Not Coping

If it’s ok here @Birdofparadise8 , I’d kindly like to clarify..

cutaneous receptors are a type of mechanoreceptor and the type they are is called a tactile receptor (touch), which is further decided into different sub-types, based on the type of stimulus (light/heavy/sharp/dull/etc).
There are three types of mechanoreceptors in the body: tactile (skin, including cutaneous receptors), proprioception (joints and other soft tissues surrounding joints), and baroreceptors (pressure). All of these mechanoreceptors detect changes in the shape of their cell membrane - mechanical distortion - to generate an electrical signal to the brain. The physical distortion gives rise to their name: mechanoreceptor, which is mechanical movement creates a signal from them 🙂🌺

Re: Not Coping

Isn't that what I said about the cutaneous receptors?

But thank you yeah I did know that @Former-Member

Your very knowledgable.

Re: Not Coping

Not quite, @Birdofparadise8 🙂🌺

what you’d mentioned was this:

I added a comparison, and mechanoreceptors are a type of Cutaneous Receptor

This actually doesn’t reflect the hierarchy of the anatomy, hence why I thought I would kindly describe the context of hierarchy of the receptors, being mechano, which describes all of tactile, proprio, and baro receptors. And cutaneous are a sub-class of tactile (which is a sub class of mechanoreceptor) 🙂

my apologies - I’m a stickler for correct cellular hierarchy because I used to teach anatomy 🌺🙂💜

Re: Not Coping

I love it @Birdofparadise8 🙌🏻😀

and by that I mean your final edit of your hypothesis 🌺☺️
