Developing a support network

Developing a support network

Hello. Could someone please tell me how to develop a support network. I don’t have one and especially friends. I have no meaning purpose or structure in my life and I have become so ashamed of how I am. I want to feel happy and content but I am always feeling lonely and stressed and mortified at the prospect of continuing this way. I just want a friend or two.

but I can’t seem to make any. No one wants to know me and I want to know what is wrong with me. I want to know why? Why am I here when no one wants me. I don’t want to live a lonely life anymore. I want my friends and family back. They all left me me because of my inexcusable behaviour when I was sick. Is god punishing me? What did I do to deserve this existence.

to be honest I don’t want to be here anymore but I can’t do anything because I have two kids and need to be here for them. And I don’t want to cause trouble for people. But I want to go to sleep and never wake up.

Hey @Anon1975

You're so welcome, the forums are such a great place to gain some more support ❤️

I'm not sure where you live, but I know there are a few like BumbleBFF and others on the app store. They are specifically designed for meeting like-minded people, and its great because you know the people online are wanting to meet you too!

There are also a few Facebook groups that you could join if you had a particular interest in something, and they usually try and do meet ups depending on what group it is. You can search for them in the search bar on the app.

In saying this, please be safe and access all situations properly before meeting up with anyone from online. I'm sure you are aware of this, but its always important to reiterate it as you never know the person on the other side of the screen.

Take care,
Amber22

Hey @Anon1975,

Feeling isolated is really tough and makes it hard to reach out when you're feeling down. I have felt like this before too. There are some great suggestions on here, so I won't repeat, but I can share one story about how I have dealt with isolation and feeling down....

I rescued a dog from the RSPCA and he has been full of surprises in the connections I have made through him. He has bought close and precious moments for myself with my kids while we play with him. I was most surprised through how many conversations and connections I have made while walking him. I have walked the same route for years and never spoke to anyone! People loves animals and fellow dog walkers often stop to chat. This made a world of difference for me during those times. The beauty of it as well is... you can stop to chat or if you don't feel up for it, you can keep walking alone and sometimes just being out is a mood changer. I understand not everyone is in a position to take on a pet, but maybe you could offer a dog walking service in your local area if ownership isn't for you? I believe that local shelters often look for volunteer walkers. Might be an opening to something special with your kids or an opening for some connection, without the pressure or even just an excuse for fresh air!

I am new to the forums and hope to see you around more. Connection is connection, in person or online, and from what I've heard, these forums are a very supportive community. Hope you have felt some connections on the forums already and can build from here x
