Something’s not right

Struggling: TW suicide

Struggling: TW suicide

I have been struggling a lot lately with suicidal thoughts. It’s become a daily occurrence and it’s been really overwhelming to cope. I am safe right but having to fight this is very exhausting. I feel so trapped, I am tired of living in pain, fear and shame. I feel like a burden to people and unimportant.

@tyme yes it’s a tricky one. I had a session with my MH clinician who suggested it might be a good idea to have additional support apart from psychologist for my specific trauma. Suicidal thoughts have been really chronic lately.

Hi @creative_writer

Just checking how you are today. Are you safe? @tyme I don't think is in today she will reply, I'm sure, as soon as she is next in!

Take care

@hanami I’m safe right now. Just feeling scared of getting extra help for trauma. Disclosing it is hard. I’m going to talk to my peer support worker about it later this week because she knows more than the MH clinician. But the reality is, I have been told I may have c-ptsd and it’s hard.

@creative_writer I think that sounds like a good plan. Totally understand how hard it is to disclose things. Not saying I understand your particular situation just my own stuff. It's super hard to disclose to others but if you have a peer worker you can trust, that's amazing. Take it baby step by baby step.

@hanami need to try to get these trauma symptoms under control because they have been definitely making my mood disorder worse. This ongoing stress isn’t helpful, I’m already of medication and a strict sleep routine but still struggling. This depression hasn’t really lifted for so long.

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

@creative_writer well I've been in hospital now 10 days and had a variety of tests and treatments.

Outcome: I'm going to have to deal with my body the way it is.Surgical intervention is not an option as to the large amount needed. They say it will leave me worse to have it all fixed.

So a new pain specialist is going to have a look tomorrow or Thursday to see if anything can be done to make life mire bearable.

I'd write a list of what needs fixing but we would run out of space

@Former-Member I really hope the new pain specialist can help you being in a lot of physical pain must be really awful.

I'm feeling awful this morning. I feel somewhat guilty talking about SA because:
-My parents are private so I've internalised the need to keep things to myself.
-Sometimes I convince myself it wasn't so bad and don't deserve or need help and should let the people who deserve help get it instead of me.

heya @Former-Member, I'm so sorry to hear about this. It sounds like you've tried a whole heap of things and that shows a lot of determination.

I also live with chronic pain, although it sounds like I've not had to deal with it for as long. But my pain meant a lot of isolation, discomfort and real hopelessness for me. I recently came across a Pain Management workbook by Dr. Rachel Zoffness which has totally changed my life. I was skeptical until I listened to this podcast episode she did (linked here). I obviously can't say for certain that it will change things, but it was a real last resort for me.

and @creative_writer, sending lots of hugs and love ❤️ After my own SA, I felt the same as you but for different reasons. it took me a long time to change these thoughts. But I really hope they can change a little for you.

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

@Former-Member I am also tired of being told that I need to be on guard with MH professionals. I am already so overly cautious. My pain is my pain and I can't pretend it away. The reality is the pain often feels too much that I am chronically suicidal and I don't even know how I get through each day. Maybe my mum has really bad separation anxiety and doesn't want to be hospitalised. But they haven't hospitalised me even after telling them how bad things have been. It's like I am not supposed to trust MH professionals. But what I am suppose to do? Hide the storm within me? I already have trust issues because of SA and little traumas in my life, it feels too much to carry other people's trust issues ❤️

@creative_writer, from what I've seen from getting to know you and this post here, I get the sense that you've felt the need to keep a lot of your feelings and struggles to yourself. That must be so exhausting.

It also sounds like you've been considering hospital, is that right? But your parents are saying you cant trust MH professionals.

Whether or not you are, is there a way that you can decide what happens with your MH supports?
