Something’s not right

Struggling: TW suicide

Struggling: TW suicide

I have been struggling a lot lately with suicidal thoughts. It’s become a daily occurrence and it’s been really overwhelming to cope. I am safe right but having to fight this is very exhausting. I feel so trapped, I am tired of living in pain, fear and shame. I feel like a burden to people and unimportant.

@Captain24 wish things were easier, but you know social work can be very confronting. I really want to be able to handle it but I feel really vulnerable right now. So much going on in my life with MI, uni stress and chronic physical pain.

@Paperdaisy things are confusing. I'm trying to do what I can to sleep well. The days have become longer too so that has affected me. I've been using evening blue light glasses to help with sleep, I felt like I was becoming less agitated but the energy came back. But yes, will need to reach out so I can work out what's going on. I just don't want more meds though.

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

I just bought myself some of those @creative_writer but I wasn't sure if they work.. we shall see.

I hear you about the meds and that's fair but there are other ways and you need people in your court if you know what I mean.

Take care of yourself 💝

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

@Paperdaisyit doesn’t hurt to try them. I’m pretty sensitive to light so they make some difference. Still been waking up groggy though, but I’ve only really started using them recently. I’m on so much medication already, so don’t want to be put on any more. But I might need my meds to be reviewed just to make sure they’re still okay for me. Feeling quite uncomfortable right now, this high energy can trigger off migraines 💞

I hear you @creative_writer I hope it eases for you. As you say, might be worth just checking as things can change.

I hope so too @Paperdaisy.

Been thinking is my fear of being judged for my trauma history my own anxiety. Like does my SA trauma make me damaged or broken? Or am I overthinking? I’m so scared that I feel like I need to protect my reputation.

Hi @creative_writer

I don’t think the SA trauma makes you damaged or broken. It is hard to move passed and sticks with you always.

I have never said this on here before but I was a victim of SA as well. However it was my fault for putting myself into that position.

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

Hi there @Captain24!

How are you going today?

I'm so sorry to hear that you have experienced that before. It must have been a really hard and traumatic thing to go through, and I really hope you reach out if you need help. I note that you said you haven't mentioned it before, but it is always a good idea to speak about it with someone you trust (or a professional) if it ever gets too heavy for you to carry with you.

Everyones situation is different, but I hope that you never feel as if experiencing SA was your fault at all. Again, I don't know what the situation was, but you were never at fault in that circumstance regarding what the other person did.

I hope that you are able to speak about this openly with someone. It is a hard thing to overcome, and there is always support willing to listen. ❤️

Take care,

Amber22

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

Hi @amber22

I will always blame myself but I have learnt to forgive myself. I will never forgive him or how he made me feel. The shame, the feeling dirty, the guilt and the distrust.

I thought that I had moved passed it but just now I realise it has influenced some of the decisions I have made. I haven’t told my MH nurse any of this. Maybe I should. As I thought I’d dealt with it and it’s no longer at the forefront of my mind.

As for how I’m feeling at the moment its just nothing. Not happy, not sad, not anything. Just an empty shell. It’s a really uneasy feeling.

Thanks for checking in!

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

Hey @Captain24

I think it could be a really good idea to talk to your MH nurse about it. I know you said that it is not in the forefront of your mind anymore, which I'm glad to hear that it does not affect you daily, but I think that it could be a good idea to talk through it with someone. It is always better to work through it bit by bit, rather than leave it as it could always come up later on in life.

I am glad to hear that you have made peace with the situation, but again, please don't feel as if any of the SA was your fault at all. This can definitely be something you can speak about with your MH nurse, as they will know a bit more about the repercussions of SA than I do. It's always beneficial to have as much support as possible from professionals, or anyone that you want to share your story with.

I'm sorry to hear you aren't feeling anything at the moment. Maybe try do something today to lift your spirits a bit, whatever that may look like for you! Is there anything in particular that could make you feel a bit better today?

Sitting with you,

Amber22

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

@Captain24 I know it’s hard to believe, but it wasn’t your fault. It’s hard to shake off the shame. It shattered my self worth. I come from a practising Muslim background too so it felt really wrong on so many levels. I don’t even know how I’ll go into a relationship when that arises. I’ve noticed that I haven’t really healed from it, it became more obvious with time. I used to be so detached from those memories, like it didn’t feel like it really happened.

Living with multiple MI is hard, I think I need to get my BP meds reviewed too, one MI feeds the other.
