Something’s not right

Struggling: TW suicide

Struggling: TW suicide

I have been struggling a lot lately with suicidal thoughts. It’s become a daily occurrence and it’s been really overwhelming to cope. I am safe right but having to fight this is very exhausting. I feel so trapped, I am tired of living in pain, fear and shame. I feel like a burden to people and unimportant.

@Former-Member counselling appointment went alright. It’s good to have a counsellor in between my psych appointments. My psych is away, but even when she comes back, appointments are 3 weeks apart. Sessions covered by Medicare have reduced, so it’s just not feasible to have more frequent appointments. It’s hard when things have been a struggle for a while. I do however get a few counselling sessions for free, so I am using those too.

I need to get new trainers. Been looking for ages, hoping to find some soon. Finding good shoes is so hard.

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

@Snowie I hope today went okay for you 💗

I have GP appointment tom to discuss pdoc referral and how I have been using PRN daily lately. I’m too scared to stop taking PRN because I don’t want to become more unstable again so decided to take it until I talk to the GP.

I can understand that @creative_writer

My prn seems to be the norm lately.

I hope your gp appt. goes ok tomorrow.

@Snowie I was thinking of changing to this GP as my regular. My file and all are already in the clinic. However, this GP is leaving too, so will need to find a GP to find consistently.

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

@creative_writer I have found it hard to find a gp too that isn't leaving. You just get used to one and then they leave. Very hard in country towns too.

I hope you are able to find someone.

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

@Snowie it’s hard. I don’t really have a GP that I can really talk. So many are so rushed and don’t really take the time to talk. Hopefully I can get a pdoc in place soon. There is a bit of a wait, but at least found someone taking in new patients.

When I go to my GP, I make sure I book a double appointment @creative_writer . Do you think you could do that? After all, they DO get paid for longer appointments.

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

@tyme I can. But first I need to find a GP that suits my needs and I feel comfortable with.

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

That's true @creative_writer . I hope you find a GP you can connect with. When I was with my area mental health team, I didn't need a GP so much. They had an entire treating team to manage everything.

However, towards the end of my time with them, they gave me a list of GPs I could see (had experience with MH). I visited them to find one that I connected best with. So since then, I still see that GP. I'm really happy with her. She has been instrumental in providing me that general health support.
