Something’s not right

Struggling: TW suicide

Struggling: TW suicide

I have been struggling a lot lately with suicidal thoughts. It’s become a daily occurrence and it’s been really overwhelming to cope. I am safe right but having to fight this is very exhausting. I feel so trapped, I am tired of living in pain, fear and shame. I feel like a burden to people and unimportant.

@Snowie and when you get caught crying but you say you’re not crying.

I hardly ever cry @creative_writer

I can't remember the last time I cried. I have never cried in front of my psych or pdoc. I think I just close all my emotions down and hide them away.

I am the exact opposite to my mum. She gets very emotional but uses it against me. I don't have a good relationship with her.

I think we all deal with our emotions in different ways. I always think that maybe letting my emotions out might help me.

Crying is certainly not a weakness. You have nothing to worry about. My Dad used to cry and he was one of the strongest person I ever knew.

@Snowie I honestly try not to cry but sometimes it sort of seeps out. I grew up ashamed of my tears. It just felt safer to hold things in. I just got super emotional after thinking about how I couldn’t get my needs met. I crave physical comfort but never feel okay with asking for it because I never get that comfortable with people. I want a shoulder to cry on and arms to hold me. Is that a lot to ask for?

@creative_writer you should never be ashamed of crying. It is not a measure of our strength.

I'm sorry you can't get your needs met at the moment, but do hold hope for you.

You deserve it and it isn't a lot to ask for.

I can understand not being comfortable around people. I feel that way too sometimes.

We all deserve support.

@Snowie it sort of breaks me heart that I feel like I don’t get my needs met because I’m not worthy or loveable enough. I’ve struggled with self-worth since I was a kid. Lifetime of little and big T can make one feel so worthless. I am also used to not having my needs met. While I had loving parents, my emotions were too much for them.

You are worthy and loveable enough @creative_writer

But it is so hard to see that within ourselves.

I grew up in a loving home too but still felt out of place. The only one I was close to was my Dad and he has passed now.

It is so easy to see that strength in others but not in ourselves. In the short time I have known you I see so much strength and courage in you. Despite not getting your needs met, you have still managed to continue and also to support others. You have already overcome so much.

@Snowie it’s hard when you grow up in a loving home, yet feel so out of place. I’m sorry to hear your dad passed away, it always hard with someone so close. It is so much easier to see strength in other people as opposed to yourself. Aww hon, you’re so sweet. You are amazing, sweet, compassionate and strong yourself 💗.

Sorry @creative_writer fell asleep last night.

My Dad passed away almost 8 years ago now, but I still miss him. He was the rock in the family. I think he kept our family together.

It is easier to see the strength in others besides yourself. Qualities I often see in others I cannot see in myself. And even when people tell you your strengths, we find it hard to believe them. We are funny creatures!!!

I hope today goes a little better for you hon. Please take care of yourself, you are super important to us 💌

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

All good @Snowie. I hope you had a restful night. Had the brunch thing to prepare for today so was really busy this morning.

It would have been so hard to lose your dad when he was so close to you and kept the family together. Sending you a hug.

It’s so much easier to see strengths in other people, even if we sit down and try to identify our strengths, the activity can feel somewhat forced. But I guess affirmations get easier with time. Today has been okay since I was distracted, the brunch was okay, didn’t get the opportunity to really connect, but some of us are just socially awkward creatures. I just hope I don’t spiral now.

Hi @creative_writer

I hope the rest of your day is going ok.

I managed to have a shower and wash my hair this morning. A big achievement for me and I feel much cleaner.
