Something’s not right

Struggling: TW suicide

Struggling: TW suicide

I have been struggling a lot lately with suicidal thoughts. It’s become a daily occurrence and it’s been really overwhelming to cope. I am safe right but having to fight this is very exhausting. I feel so trapped, I am tired of living in pain, fear and shame. I feel like a burden to people and unimportant.

@Snowie it just reminds me of how cruel people can be. I already feel so unsafe in this world, I feel even more unsafe when they say stuff like this. I don’t think they mean any harm, but their overprotection feels too much. I don’t think I really understood what happened to me in those moment until today. This little child in me is already so scared, she gets even more scared when conversations like this happen with parents. When triggered this child becomes impulsive.

I feel so ashamed of my emotional meltdowns.

Don't feel ashamed @creative_writer

We all have those meltdowns, we just show it differently, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Will be around for a bit if you need to chat.

@Snowie I’ve had pretty bad meltdowns lately that I have to be stopped by someone else because I become a risk to myself. I just get triggered so easily.

It is hard when we get triggered easily @creative_writer Even worse when we don't know what is going to trigger us. Some days things seem ok and then the next it is a trigger. Confuses me a lot.

I know it isn't nice having someone else stepping in to stop you but it is good that you have people around to help you and that obviously care a lot about you.

@Snowie triggers can be anything too, it’s so hard to control for and not always easy to identify. I guess it’ll get easier once I am able to work on my recovery a bit more. Some days I do feel more vulnerable too. It is frustrating to have someone step in and I feel like such a child. I’ve even had my meltdowns mistaken for tantrums. But I can’t really tell them what’s going through my mind right now. Like yesterday, I don’t want to sound like I’m blaming my parents, I just happen to get triggered by what they were saying, they did not mean to trigger me.

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

My mother can trigger me very easily @creative_writer even if she doesn't mean too.

Maybe you can sit down and speak to your parents about what triggered you yesterday. Say you are not blaming them, but this is what happened. Sometimes it is just the way people say things to us that is a trigger for us too.

Triggers are not always easy to identify, I totally agree with you there. It also depends on what sort of day we are having too and what else is happening for us at that time.

Gee MI is so confusing at times.

@Snowie I think their anxiety can trigger my own anxiety. Having certain conversations never ends well. They are anxious about the MH system is Australia and don’t trust it. It is true that our MH system has its cracks, but I already have trust issues. It just doesn’t help to have conversations around how I shouldn’t trust MH professionals when I already find it hard to trust. The last thing I need is to feel more unsafe around people than I already do.

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

That is totally understandable @creative_writer

It wouldn't make it any easier when people around you are not supportive of the supports you need and deserve. Hopefully in time they can come to realise that you need all the help you can get.

Whilst there are many holes in our mental health system, there are people who are trying their hardest to help us. I will say however that it is extremely hard at times to find those people, and then when we do find them we need to hang onto them as much as possible.
