Something’s not right

Struggling: TW suicide

Struggling: TW suicide

I have been struggling a lot lately with suicidal thoughts. It’s become a daily occurrence and it’s been really overwhelming to cope. I am safe right but having to fight this is very exhausting. I feel so trapped, I am tired of living in pain, fear and shame. I feel like a burden to people and unimportant.

@tyme it's just frustrating. People can mean well, but sometimes they don't realise what they communicate by not talking about it. I think suicide and the nature of the trauma associated with the flashbacks is hard to talk about. But mundane stresses like uni and stuff isn't so difficult to talk about. I always seem to get stuck on the deeper issues. I think it's a quite normal thing in many Eastern cultures to avoid talking about very sensitive matters.

I get the need for comfort @creative_writer. What I wouldn’t do for just a hug from someone and told it will all be ok.

There is times where I want to tell my parents what is going on but it is safer to keep it to myself.

I have found being able to open up on here has helped me open up a little in the outside world. I now have a two people that can help with support. However when I really need them I can’t lean on them as I just feel like a burden and not worthy.

I hope making connections here help you

So true @creative_writer - I think it is an Eastern culture thing - 'just don't talk about it'!

Yet not talking about it doesn't means the issues aren't there.

I agree with what @Captain24 said - I hope you find the connections here helpful. I know I myself find it helpful that I can open up and share what I cannot share with my family.

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

@Captain24 I totally feel you on feeling like a burden. I know I have people who I can talk to and they will let me talk and say I'm not a burden. Those types of people are rare but they do exist. I often feel reluctant to reach out even though I know I could.

@tyme ignoring something never makes it go away, it only grows bigger. It does help to come on here and know you're not alone. It's so easy to feel like you're in this alone and nobody could possibly understand.

I think pretending to 'ignore' it ends up making it more damaging @creative_writer .

Instead of letting it out, it ends up eating you up inside - and from experience, that's what did me the most damage.

I hope you will find creative ways of letting it out so that you do not let sadness eat your soul.

I'm sitting with you.

Hope you are feeling a little better @creative_writer after being able to let some of this out. I’m heading off to bed. Talk soon

How is today treating you @creative_writer? I’m hoping today is a little bit better for you.

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

@tyme it does end it hurting more, even though I know it's not their intention to cause more pain. Parents can become blindsided by love. I've had moments where I felt my mum didn't want to believe it, I mean would any loving parents want to believe something awful has happened to their child? I mean I could try explaining the whole situation more but I'm still scared of ending up feeling worse.

@Captain24 migraine seems to be a bit better, can tolerate light for longer. Just hoping it holds up tom when I'm at uni. Mental health tends to get worse when I'm in more pain too.

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

Hope you migraine clears by tomorrow for you @creative_writer what are you studying at uni, if you don’t mind me asking.

I feel that pain does make my MH worse.

too.

I’ve been sitting in the ED at the local hospital for 4 hrs as I can hardly walk with severe back pain.

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

Oh @Captain24 that is not good! I fell down some stairs a couple of weeks back and landed on my back so hear you about pain. I'm recovering though so I'm all good. I contemplated going to ED but the wait time put me off. I hope you get seen soon.

Take care
