Something’s not right

Struggling: TW suicide

Struggling: TW suicide

I have been struggling a lot lately with suicidal thoughts. It’s become a daily occurrence and it’s been really overwhelming to cope. I am safe right but having to fight this is very exhausting. I feel so trapped, I am tired of living in pain, fear and shame. I feel like a burden to people and unimportant.

awwww @creative_writer . Hormones played a huge part in my MH. I had to see a specialist for it. In the end, thing naturally settled when i was in my late 20s, early 30s which was exactly as the specialist predicted.

@tyme the migraine was definitely linked to the really bad sleep I had for two days along with high levels of stress but the hormones might have added a layer to the pain. Hormones have played a role in my migraines in the past. I’m almost on my period, it’ll probably get easier once it begins. When you already struggle with MH, hormones can add that extra layer and send one even more over the edge.

Another thing I did for a while is take the pill so everything was regular like clockwork @creative_writer . It then gave me time to 'plan' for migraines, grouchiness, mood swings...

@tyme migraines are weird. I was just frustrated that my GP’s advice was to go to the emergency if it gets really bad since they can provide strong pain relief which is not feasible. He probably would’ve been better off referring me to a specialist. My mood stabiliser are supposed to help my migraine too, but it doesn’t seem to be cutting it right now.

Have you been to an endocrinologist? @creative_writer Migraines are often unbearable for me. I feel sooooo sick!

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

@tyme I haven’t. I can get my hormones checked again, but last time I did it came back normal, so I don’t know if it’s just MH being aggravated by normal hormones. I wasn’t in a good headspace to start off with. It took a while to get the energised depressive state under control but it is finally, I think I would still be in it if I hadn’t been so strict with routine and taking meds. I am depressed and fatigued now, which isn’t ideal but it’s not as uncomfortable. I also got triggered after a therapy session last week, and now I have hormones. It’s layers on layers.

Which reminds us that we are complex beings @creative_writer . Hence recovery and therapy should look at the whole person, and not just a symptom in isolation.

Fingers crossed you will naturally 'grow out of it' like me.... otherwise, it can be debilitating!

Have you tried natural remedies for your migraines? Migraines are soooo horrible.

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

@tyme I've tried dietary supplements that don't interact with my meds. They help a bit. But I think mood stability is going to be key for me too. I should be careful with migraine triggers too, like dehydration, low blood sugar, and foods and try to maintain routine and good sleep hygiene.
