Something’s not right

Struggling: TW suicide

Struggling: TW suicide

I have been struggling a lot lately with suicidal thoughts. It’s become a daily occurrence and it’s been really overwhelming to cope. I am safe right but having to fight this is very exhausting. I feel so trapped, I am tired of living in pain, fear and shame. I feel like a burden to people and unimportant.

I want to disappear. Can’t seem to forget the pain.

My dear @creative_writer . I'm listening. I hear the pain.

Would you like to contact our counsellors? 1800 187 263? They are really amazing.

@tyme I reached out to them earlier today, it helped a bit. Processing has been hard. I feel so ashamed.

@creative_writer - that's okay. It's about working with the emotions you have right now. Here and now. You are more than welcome to contact them again.

@tymewe did speak a bit about rituals I can do after appointments when I spoke to the counsellor. Therapy can be intense sometimes, you know. There were some realisations I made weeks ago, I finally spoke about in therapy yesterday. It’s sometimes hard with trauma to fully process what’s happening during the incident if you disassociate.

Make sure you are ready @creative_writer - any time you don't feel you can go 'there' , pull the plug and stop. That is okay. There is a fine line between tackling trauma and re-traumatising someone. You need to be ready. It is your call.

@tyme I don’t think it was as much retraumatisation. I think talking about it brought it back to the surface, it was already at the back of my mind. It was at the surface weeks ago. One day, out of the blue, I realised things, I was alone when it happened and it was not connected to a therapy session I had. It completely took me off guard. I guess those recent realisations have surfaced back again.

I think I’ll talk to my psychologist during my next appointment. She will be coming back from leave next month. Though I have counselling appointments in between, but I don’t think I can talk about this with the counsellor. Counselling sessions are only short term and she doesn’t know about my trauma history. I can’t say too much because I really don’t want to open up wounds. Oversharing will only de-stabilise me. It’ll make my depression, anxiety and trauma symptoms worse. Please tell me it’s not as bad as my mind thinks it is. That I’m still okay and whole.

Take it slowly @creative_writer - you don't need to tackle trauma prematurely. It will risk re-traumatisation.

Make the most of your psych appointment. I like to write down notes in between psych appointments in order to get the most out of them.

All the best!

@tyme writing down stuff does help before appointments. I guess emotions pass. It does feel really isolating carrying this alone. But it is what it is. How do I feel more whole and less broken?
