Something’s not right

Struggling: TW suicide

Struggling: TW suicide

I have been struggling a lot lately with suicidal thoughts. It’s become a daily occurrence and it’s been really overwhelming to cope. I am safe right but having to fight this is very exhausting. I feel so trapped, I am tired of living in pain, fear and shame. I feel like a burden to people and unimportant.

I'm pretty good @creative_writer - just working up to the end-of-the year.

I'm sure your emotions aren't too far away. Expect them to return so you won't get a shock when they do!

Last night, I had a 'sad' moment... I reflected on this year, and I feel I've made minimal growth. I'm think whether it is because I stopping studying this year, or whether it is because there has been so much change in my life that I'm back to crawling.... who knows? But the sadness was definitely there. Not because I had anything 'sad' going on.... but just limited growth this year.

What's your perspective on this @creative_writer ?

@tyme I think sometimes we feel like we reach those moments where we feel like we are not progressing/growing as much as we want. I’ve had moments where I wondered if I went on autopilot, since I am more or less doing the same things over and over again. Then I’ll be frustrated why I am not growing as much. Maybe I need to try something new? Trying something new can mean different things for different people. Maybe it’s about discovering your interests and setting goals?

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

So true @creative_writer . I don't even know what goals to set anymore. My life is full of goals because that's how I get through my day. e.g. my goal to finish a certain task so I can sit and eat. I am a very goal-focussed person.

However, I do not have any bigger overarching goals I want to set. I'm sort of so pleased with everything and I'm starting to be stagnant.

I really appreciated your thoughts on this though. Maybe I'll look back at the end of next year and realise I have grown, but not in the measurable way I expected? e.g. didn't come out with another degree or something like that? IDK.

It's good to get other people's perspectives. I honestly really appreciate it.

@tyme sometimes we grow more than we realise. We tend to have high expectations for ourselves. We grow in different ways too. Maybe it’ll help to see what you achieved this year.

@creative_writer Very true. I'll just have to step back and look at the growth.

Have you finished uni for the year?

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

@tyme I have. I haven’t really been doing much lately even though I probably could do more things around the house and engage more in hobbies. My wrist also hurts to move, too young to be having joint issues, I think I may have aggravated the pain, stupidly. Hopefully, I’ll get out of this slump so I can move forward. Do you have much planned for the xmas break?

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

Ouch... pain @creative_writer .

I've got arthritis in my feet. I've had to have special splints made as part of my orthotics to help. The seemingly 'old age' condition affects younger people now!

As for Christmas, I don't celebrate Christmas, so I don't really know what I am doing - yet.

What about you?

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

@tyme my blood test ruled rheumatoid arthritis out. I think I just have weird bendy joints. Sometimes I bend myself more than I realise. My sister is like, why is your hand bending so backwards. I don’t celebrate it either nor does my family , so no plans.

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

Oesto-arthritis? @creative_writer

I guess Christmas is good because everyone is off work. That's the best part. I have to see what the weather is before I make plans.

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

@tyme I haven’t had osteo ruled out. I do think I might benefit from seeing a physio that specialises in joint hyper mobility. I suspect I have ehlers danlos, which is a genetic condition. I live in pain on a regular basis so it would be good to get a professional opinion.
