Something’s not right

Struggling: TW suicide

Struggling: TW suicide

I have been struggling a lot lately with suicidal thoughts. It’s become a daily occurrence and it’s been really overwhelming to cope. I am safe right but having to fight this is very exhausting. I feel so trapped, I am tired of living in pain, fear and shame. I feel like a burden to people and unimportant.

I didn’t get a chance to let it out last night, was too tired anyways. I had GP appointment to get form filled out and got a script, but didn’t really talk about how hard things have been. A part of me just wants to give up because it’s hard. I feel awful and feel like I shouldn’t feel this way and that they are people out there with real problems. I am here, safe and okay with bipolar depression, anxiety and PTSD really affecting my quality of life. I wish I could pretend or think my pain away but I simply can’t.

It's a shame you didn't get to share with your GP around how you are feeling at the moment @creative_writer. I understand what you mean when you say you were too tired - those emotional conversations can really take it out of us but I would gently encourage you to have another chat with your GP soon (when you are feeling more up to it) around your feelings and your thoughts.

My best friend had a pretty bad year this year and said to me something like `I feel bad feeling this way as so many people have it worse off'. I said perhaps they have but that doesn't negate your feelings and what you are going through. Your feelings are your truth and it's not comparable to how anyone else is going. You are processing a lot and it will take time - be kind to yourself and understanding. It's good that you are honest with your feelings - I always say to my kids you might be able to lie to a lot of people but you can't lie to yourself.

Thank you for letting us know you are safe - we are always here for you. Keep reaching out whenever you need to.

Hugs,

FloatingFeather

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

@FloatingFeather I pretty much stopped talking to my GP about my mental health in detail a long time ago. I just don’t get that connection anymore. Today has been hard and sitting with a lot of feelings of shame. I thought I would feel less shameful and dirty by taking a shower. I took a full on shower but still feel ugh. And on top of that my sister asked me about my wrist, I told her it was from falling down the stairs but i have scars from SH.

Hey @creative_writer ,

How are you my dear? I'm just catching up on what is happening.

Do you have another truster person you can speak to?

Hi @tyme how are you?

I have been struggling today. I have my psych or counsellor from suicidal service I am linked with. I am looking up possible psychiatrists too.

Have you heard of the HOPE program? Not sure if you have it in your area @creative_writer - it's like a 6 week program/support (Hospital Outreach Post-suicidal Engagement). I've know people to have found it very helpful.

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

@tyme I was with the HOPE team earlier this year. It was helpful, there were services they recommended, I am with one of those services right now. The other one had a long wait list.

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

Despite the long wait list, are you able to put your name on it anyway? @creative_writer

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

@tyme I can but haven’t been able to bring myself to complete the intake due to guilt and I’ve been discharged from HOPE almost one month ago now. I was going to bring in up in my psych session. You know my parents are super conservative and there is a lot of stigma around SA. They don’t want me to be upset, hurt and isolated, they never wanted the trauma to happen to me. But they became really protective, maybe a bit of distrustful with the mental health system.
