Something’s not right

Struggling: TW suicide

Struggling: TW suicide

I have been struggling a lot lately with suicidal thoughts. It’s become a daily occurrence and it’s been really overwhelming to cope. I am safe right but having to fight this is very exhausting. I feel so trapped, I am tired of living in pain, fear and shame. I feel like a burden to people and unimportant.

Short answer? For me, yes. I can't say I'm depressed...nothing like what it used to be. @creative_writer

@tyme I know baseline does exist, it’s just hard to reach it for long enough, I was more stable for a few days and then things went downhill. I was going into hypomania but meds plus limiting light exposure with those evening blue glasses made it settle down so it didn’t turn out into a full episode. I was stable ish for a few days. Then back into depression and suicidal urges that I’m really trying to fight 😭. I feel like my PTSD and social anxiety flare up when I become depressed. I do think the retraumatisation earlier this year did affect my stability this year. I’m super sensitive to stress and changes in circadian rhythms that my mood disorder can get exacerbated.

Are you reading anything at the moment? @creative_writer Or writing poetry?

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

@tyme I don’t write poems in one sitting because then I never would. I might add verses here and there when I get inspiration on existing poems or I would create new poems. Really need to get back into reading because I have more free time now. Do you have any creative ways of how you express yourself?

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

I am creative @creative_writer , but I'm not sure about creatively 'expressing myself'. I'm more into innovations. I guess I'm a very goal-focused person. If I think something needs to be done, I use my creativity to come up with a solution.

The more difficult part is that when I do create paintings, diamond art, poetry etc, I really don't know what to do with them, and so I end up getting frustrated that I've 'wasted time'. For me, completing projects is as far as I get to help be feel content and satisfied.

It's hard to explain....

@tymecreativity can be expressed in different ways. It’s not always an artistic form of expression. My mum has suggested publishing my work but never really tried to nor do I have a blog or anything. I’ve pretty much kept most of my poetry unseen by the world. I guess it’s like journaling in a way, I can use it to express the depths of darkness. I rather the world didn’t know about my suicidality. I’ve written poems during mania too. I remember not being able to sleep and I started writing a couple of poems simultaneously like I was insane.

Yes, @creative_writer , that's why I found it hard to answer the question. I know I am creative in many ways in terms of thinking outside the box, but to actually make a product is a different story.

I have thought many times to write a book about my MH challenges and journey... There's so much I want to share with the world, yet I know I need to be mentally ready for it. Once again, being goal-focused, this book is aimed at helping others. It is not aimed as a form of self-relief or therapy.

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

@tyme that would be an interesting book to read, but yes, you need to be mentally ready for it. I do admire people who can talk about their mental health struggles in public. I could never do that because of ingrained culture stuff.

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

I actually thought so too @creative_writer - I never thought I could speak about my upbringing. Yet I have. I say straight out that I come from a very conservative background where MH was a taboo. It was the hidden thing that no one dare speak about.

I have delivered this message internationally, and continue to do so.

Once day, maybe you will also find your voice.

I'll be logging off for the evening. I hope to catch you sometime over the next few days.

@tyme maybe, I don’t know. Definitely don’t in that headspace yet. I need to learn to care less about what other people think or say.
