Something’s not right

I can’t cope

I can’t cope

Hi. I’m new and have never been in anything like this before.
I’m really struggling with depression at the moment and just need a place to vent.
there is no reason as to why I feel this way. I just hate myself and feel like I’m an unworthy and useless person. I don’t have a partner or many friends. I feel like I keep pushing them away when I’m down. I’m just not worthy of them. I hate life and just wish I would go to sleep and not wake up. I feel so much emotional pain inside but numb at the same time. None of this makes any sense but it just how I feel.

Hi @Captain24

I'm so sorry you're feeling so low again. I've sent you an email to check in on you. Could you please reply so we know you're safe?

Hugs

Hanami

Re: I can’t cope

I don’t know what to do. I’m just aimlessly wondering around. I can’t focus on anything. I feel so alone. I thought about ringing a friend to chat but why would they want to hear from me. You guys really don’t need to hear this either. Sorry

Hey @Captain24, I'm so sorry you've been feeling this way again. I often have similar thoughts when I'm thinking of calling a friend. There's this strategy from DBT called "checking the facts" which I find really useful when I'm assuming how someone will react.

I wonder if that helps and if you're feeling up to giving them a call? I bet they would love to hear from you

I’m not in a really good place @Former-Member. I wish it would get better so I don’t feel like a burden to everyone constantly. I’ve even been using my sore back as an excuse to not go for a walk, or go to work, so I don’t have to see anyone.

Hey @Captain24 I'm about to finish up for the day, but it sounds like you're really missing some human connection?

I wonder if you would be up for giving your friend a call? There is also the The Weekly Friday Feast where a lot of the members catch up on a friday? I'm wondering if that could be useful?

Hello hello @Captain24 . I just logged on so I haven't caught up with everything. Sounds like your back is still playing up?

Re: I can’t cope

I’m just a mess at the moment @tyme

My back is better than it was, but feels

like it’s not getting any better from here. Im not sure if the pain is messing with my head or my head is messing with the pain.

Re: I can’t cope

You know what @Captain24 ? It could be a combination of both - physical and mental.

I know you are further out, but do you have access to a pool? I know swimming used to help my back because it was a low-resistance exercise.

Not only that, physical activity does produce endorphins to hopefully help you feel better?

I schedule in core training sessions once a week. I don't LOVE going, but it does make me feel better after.

By the way, do you have to go to your folks this weekend?

Re: I can’t cope

Hopefully something sorts it self out soon. @tyme I’m really struggling.

There is no heated pool here. I’m hoping to get a pool in the next few years but it’s not helpful now! When I walked the dog with mum it’s a really long walk and I don’t think I could do it. But I could walk around my estate which is less distance. I might do it tomorrow to see if it can help my MH.

Hope you have had a good day

Re: I can’t cope

I'd encourage you to start small @Captain24 . And start slow to go fast @Captain24 . Sometimes, we shock our body because we haven't walked in a while, then suddenly do a HUGE walk.

My dietician calls it 'exercise snacking'. This means even incidental exercise counts. The dietician mentioned things like standing at the kitchen bench then doing a few squats, or taking a bit of a longer walk to get something from the loungeroom... hope you get the drift....

I liked this idea of exercise snacking because it means I don't need a schedule in an hour or something to exercise. This is probably a good start.
