Something’s not right

I can’t cope

I can’t cope

Hi. I’m new and have never been in anything like this before.
I’m really struggling with depression at the moment and just need a place to vent.
there is no reason as to why I feel this way. I just hate myself and feel like I’m an unworthy and useless person. I don’t have a partner or many friends. I feel like I keep pushing them away when I’m down. I’m just not worthy of them. I hate life and just wish I would go to sleep and not wake up. I feel so much emotional pain inside but numb at the same time. None of this makes any sense but it just how I feel.

@tyme the glitches are driving me nuts. I keep having issues signing in.

Yes I'm still in Melbourne.

Me too @MissGremlin 😞

I don't think anyone can do anything over the weekend.

I've also had to wait to log in. I had to wait 30 mins this morning... then finally got in.

As frustrating as it is, just know it's happening to everyone, including mods 🙂

Re: I can’t cope

@tyme hopefully they are sorted out soon. I'm glad you finally got on. Hope you're doing ok.

Re: I can’t cope

Yeah, I'm pretty okay.

I just we can all just celebrate when we get online.

To be honest, when you think about it, the fact that so many people are willing to jump over hurdles to get through to the forums, shows the impact of the forums. While not ideal, it sort of shows that people really do value the connection on the forums - right?

@MissGremlin , who's looking after Casper? Sorry, I haven't backread yet.

Re: I can’t cope

@tyme people certainly value the forums. It's not just a space to connect it's a whole community of support. When we can't access that it truly has a huge impact on us and the others we would connect with.

Casper is with people that adore him. He's getting lots of love and cuddles.

Re: I can’t cope

@Captain24 so today I met up with my friend and it was absolutely amazing. She is a sweetheart and we have a really strong connection with each other. It was a beautiful moment when we first met and it was so nice to just sit and chat to her in person.

Hope work has been ok for you sweet, been thinking about you ❤️.

I just kept trying to do the things that were slowly lifting and not giving up on them. There’s more changes to make but it all takes time and I have to make these ones natural first.

@Captain24 yesssss amazing! I was taught this theory of learning once that I've found helpful to remind myself of if things get frustrating with these kind of skills as we go along the journey. I may have shared it before, can't remember 😅

But it goes like this:

1. Unconscious Incompetence (We don't know there's something to learn)

2. Conscious Incompetence (We're aware we can improve or learn something)

3. Conscious Competence (We need to actively think about the skill, but we're getting better at it)

4. Unconscious Competence (We don't even need to think about it anymore, the skill has become automatic through repetition).

So if you're finding the skills seem to work, but you still gotta remind yourself to keep practicing, then you're at stage 3. You're on your way to stage 4 when they feel natural, easy, and you use them more often than not 😊

I think for a lot of people, myself included, the intrusive thoughts may never truly go away entirely. But they get less frequent, and when you get to the stage where you are also automatically able to counter them, they're no longer distressing, they don't take up heaps of energy, they no longer have the power to send us into a spiral. I know I still get some not so nice thoughts, like 'I'm so useless' - however I'm at the 4th stage and can automatically counter it with something like 'Okay that's harsh, I'm not useless I just made a mistake - and I can't fix that mistake if I get stuck in shame.' That's what I imagine the purpose of the 'thanks brain' skill is - to get to a point where you aren't berating yourself for still having the occasional nasty intrusive thought!

That's a good end goal to have though I think, to be managing day to day without those thoughts taking over 😊

And thanks for the appreciation, it's been a privilege to watch you grow and bloom along the way 💜

Goes to show how important it is to find the right supports hey!! You'll get there, keep applying yourself and maintain hope in this future being possible. As cheesy as it sounds, positive thinking really is powerful 😉

I reckon we might be talking about the same salad rolls haha Banh Mi is Vietnamese!! They're sooooo good.

Hahaha so the bags went for an excursion to the car, only to go right back into the spare room! I feel you, but I had stuff rolling around the boot annoying me for like a month!!

I ended up taking some stuff into an op shop recently, which came with the bonus of being able to peruse said op shop, so that was kind of a nice motivator! Though maybe it defeats the purpose to drop off a carload only to bring more stuff back? 😅😝

Hey @tyme. Yes I was working but I have tomorrow off so I’m looking forward to that. My bestie has just messaged me and is taking me out to lunch!

Re: I can’t cope

I’m glad it went so well @MissGremlin.

just to be able to meet and actually get to know each other and chat. It’ll make the online connection closer.

Work was ok just a really slow day. I did my absolutely favourite thing to do though so that made it better.

Hope the concert is going well

Re: I can’t cope

@Captain24 yes it will. I didn't want to leave and there was tears involved when I had to.

I'm glad you got to do your favourite thing and that it made it better.

The band hasn't started yet but the DJ is playing. Its very loud and overwhelming so I'm just trying to keep distracted by staying connected here.
