Something’s not right

I can’t cope

I can’t cope

Hi. I’m new and have never been in anything like this before.
I’m really struggling with depression at the moment and just need a place to vent.
there is no reason as to why I feel this way. I just hate myself and feel like I’m an unworthy and useless person. I don’t have a partner or many friends. I feel like I keep pushing them away when I’m down. I’m just not worthy of them. I hate life and just wish I would go to sleep and not wake up. I feel so much emotional pain inside but numb at the same time. None of this makes any sense but it just how I feel.

Yeah.. we all laughed! She said ‘well yeah tv adds 10 pounds’ @tyme. I so hope my next appointment is when she is actually here. I went in feeling low and came out feeling great

Re: I can’t cope

That's really good to hear @Captain24 . In a way, although I am no way a doctor, the rapid "I went in feeling low and came out feeling great" is very typical of environmental factors affecting those with BPD.

I'm wondering if that's why there's so much difficulty with meds?

Just a thought. Take it with a grain of salt.

Re: I can’t cope

Interesting that you should say that @tyme

My nurse rang me on Wednesday from the town that she’s working in this week. I told her how I’ve been for the last 3 weeks. She said that I’m rapid cycling! She the said ‘I’m sure the diagnosis is correct’ but she doesn’t get what’s happening with me. The way she said it is I think she is questioning it slightly.

The most in-depth thing the Psychiatrist went through was the Friday that I went to my work event. I had an emergency gp app. Before I went to the app I’d asked pixies bf’s mum if she would look after her if I didn’t come home from the Dr. I was in such a bad place that I’m surprised I came home. Then I went to the event had a fantastic time. Talked to all sorts of people. Really social and out going. Came home and was dangerously depressed again.

The medication that she has taken me off is the best one for bipolar. (I was reacting to it though.) She has replaced it with an anti-psychotic! But my

mood stabiliser is now increasing again

Re: I can’t cope

This is why I'm questioning @Captain24 . The rapid cycling is so dependent on environmental factors which does not really align with bipolar so much.

Anyway, just wait and see. I just don't want a similar situation like me where I was taking meds for bipolar for over 10 years before someone woke up and said, "You don't need these".

Re: I can’t cope

@Captain24 rapid cycling bipolar is weird and can be hard to untangle from BDP. Bipolar tends to have energy level fluctuation and changes in circadian rhythms and is thought to be biological. I’m not sure if my understanding of BDP is right, is it like CPTSD but around attachment, with fear of abandonment at core @tyme?

In response to: Re: I can’t cope

Re: I can’t cope

@tyme people with rapid cycling often have longer mood swings than those with BDP. From my understanding BDP is generally quicker and environmentally influenced.

Re: I can’t cope

Yes, BPD is very much environmentally influenced and links to CPTSD @creative_writer @Captain24 .

It does not necessarily mean one has a fear of abandonment. Moreso, it is difficulties interacting with the world around them, in particular PEOPLE. So hypersensitivity is quite common. e.g. someone messages the 'wrong' way, they may be triggered. Someone looks at them 'bad', they may be triggered.

It is very much reliant on interpersonal relationships.

Hence, medication doesn't really tackle the underlying issues of BPD.

Re: I can’t cope

@tyme I think I get a sense of what you mean. BDP doesn’t really seem like a true personality disorder to be honest. I have some BDP symptoms since I have CPTSD, but not enough to meet the criteria. Don’t think I ever had enough symptoms. Both of those diagnoses often get confused. They both seem so similar in some ways.

Re: I can’t cope

Sorry I was putting on the silverside so we have cold meat Saturday night.

I really don’t know what’s going on. @tyme @creative_writer. Mostly my moods are for a week. Then there is moments like my work thing and my app. I know that there is bipolar 1 2 and rapid cycling. Then there is BPD. My nurse seems to think that it’s not a personality disorder because I’m warm and friendly with people I’ve talked to at the hospital. Those people have been in my life for a very long time though. Some have known since I was born!

I haven’t been on any set medication for very long though. It keeps changing.

All I know is that it’s doing my head in. Literally 😂.

@tyme do you get hypos with BPD? I did the msg thing with you a while back. Took it the wrong way.

Re: I can’t cope

@Captain24 I think if you definitely had periods where you fit the criteria of hypomania, it would probably be bipolar. Hypomania isn’t part of BDP.
