Something’s not right

I can’t cope

I can’t cope

Hi. I’m new and have never been in anything like this before.
I’m really struggling with depression at the moment and just need a place to vent.
there is no reason as to why I feel this way. I just hate myself and feel like I’m an unworthy and useless person. I don’t have a partner or many friends. I feel like I keep pushing them away when I’m down. I’m just not worthy of them. I hate life and just wish I would go to sleep and not wake up. I feel so much emotional pain inside but numb at the same time. None of this makes any sense but it just how I feel.

Re: I can’t cope

Hey @Captain24 just ducked on to check on how you, Jett and Pix are doing.

Support button not working on my mobile of course though!

Hope you hear from vet soon.

If it would help your anxiety and you havent heard an update since you took her in, you could consider giving them a call to check in.

As others have said -- housework will wait for you. You have done an amazing job so far with caring for Pix -- that is a lot! You havent "done nothing", you've looked after Pix and managed stress as best as you can - thats a lot.

Sorry to hear @Captain24

What do you think you can do now?

Re: I can’t cope

The vet just rang and Pix is in overnight. @tyme @AlwaysMyself @Honeymoon @MissGremlin

She is still really unwell and in a lot of pain. They have a lot of medications going through the drips to help with the pain, the pancreatitis, glucose levels and ketone levels plus rehydrating her.

She has to have the glucose curve tomorrow to see what insulin she goes into.

I just rang mum and told her. I’m already really overwhelmed by it all and I’m struggling so much with it. I can’t take it but then mum is at me with a million things. I know it’s things that needs to be answered but I don’t have the answers. I don’t what any outcomes are. She is just bombarding me with stuff that I just can’t handle.

The also my psych hasn’t checked her emails so she doesn’t know I need to cancel my appointments as I just can’t afford them for the next 2 weeks. So I’m stressing that she won’t get it in time and I just don’t have the money. I don’t think I even have the moment to get Pix out.

I can’t do it.

Re: I can’t cope

Hey @Captain24

I know the feeling of being bombarded with questions when you cant k ow the answers yet - my mum does that too!!

The good thing i think is that *you* dont need to have the answers --- Pix is in good care with the vets and *they* will observe, treat, assess, and come up with all the answers about Pix's condition and let you know. 🥰. Thats their specialty after all 😘.

I hope you will be able to sleep well tonight woth Pix at the hospital, so you dont have to stay up to monitor her.

You have emailed the psych with as much notice as possible. Being a Sunday, they probably don't check their emails until tonight or tomorrow morning 😊 - but they will see that you emailed them on Saturday, as soon as you knew you needed to cancel. You said the appt was for Tuesday, right? So they will see the email tomorrow a day before it anyway?

Re: I can’t cope

Hey @Captain24 ,

It's Sunday. Psychs probably don't check their emails on weekends. The thing is, you have done your part and you have told her.

As for Pix, I'm so sorry this is happening. At the same time, I hear she is in good hands. It's better she is there than at home, right? They have a drip in her?

For now, I'd encourage you to focus on what is within your control, or you'll easier spin out of control - if you arent already.

It may be helpful to call a crisis line so you can have a sounding board for all those thoughts?

Remember, your thoughts, worries and concerns are valid. It is not 'wrong' to have them.

Please look after yourself. I believe in you.

Re: I can’t cope

I’m sitting here crying. I can’t do anything. I’ve just shutdown majorly. @tyme @AlwaysMyself I’m sick of crying.

Mum will just have to come to the appointment with me when I pick Pix up tomorrow. She can ask all her questions then. If I knew a way to get next week off work as well I would. I need to get Pix into a new routine with blood checks and insulin needles. Regular feeding times. There is so much that goes with it. It’s not as easy has just giving a tablet and sending them in the way. It could include an entire diet change.

I guess I just have to hope my psych checks her emails tomorrow afternoon after she finished facilitating. I just don’t want to leave her high and dry. I feel really bad that I have let her down.

Re: I can’t cope

Having your mum come tomorrow when you pick up Pix sounds a really good practical idea @Captain24 😊. And it might help you also to have her there to also take instructions in case you feel overwhelmed and struggle to take it all in.

I don't see it as you letting your psych down. They know "life happens" unpredictably sometimes. And from what i have heard it doesnt sound like you are unreliable or do it a lot. As both a former medical receptionist and a daughter of a psych, its very understandable for ypu to need to cancel and you have done *everything* you can to give as much notice as possible. None of the many clinicians i have worked for would hold that against a client in your situation.

Re: I can’t cope

I haven’t done what my psych asked of me to keep things safe. I’m guessing I should do that.

I feel sick.

I’m not doing well at all.

I have so much to do. I want everything done so I can just be with my baby girl when she gets home.

I’m so sorry.
