Hey @Captain24 , just catching up on the posts from the other day - I haven't been on the last 2 days.
"My brother really doesn’t care about anyone but himself. Unless he wants money."
Pretty sure that's still "doesn't care about anyone but himself" -- because money isn't a person lol. I know what you mean though 😛 my brain just throws in jokes too when it sees them. Pretending to be nice or care doesn't mean you are! (i.e. he is). So being nice to get money from someone does not mean he cares or is nice to them.
I've forgotten why you dislike his dog so much. I know why you dislike your bro.
I guess I'm wondering a little whether it could be a transferrance/association from your feelings towards your brother? Or because the dog does not get along with your own? (but possibly if it did accept your dogs & your dogs accept it, would that dissolve the dislike of that dog?)
.. or is it other reasons? e.g. an always-aggressive dog; a dirty and drooling dog.
My ex in-laws used to have an elderly dog. It had cataracts and thus was going blind, it was pretty deaf, it was small & scruffy (I prefer big dogs generally, but don't dislike small ones), it had fluid lumps under its skin, it had weepy eyes, and it always wanted attention when I came over. This dog irked me. I did not like being around it. But I realised why... it wasn't the dogs fault at all, poor thing (and realising this helped me feel OK and empathetic for it). The reality was, it wasn't really cared for - it got almost no attention except from visitors and even then it would often be shut-out because the in-laws didn't want it "bothering them" for attention. It was never groomed (brushed, washed, or eyes wiped) -- hence it was physically scruffy and icky to me. It wasn't the dog's fault it was going deaf and blind and had fluid lumps from ageing - although being blind and deaf didn't irk me, only the feel of the fluid lumps when patting it. I realised it wasn't the dog so much that irked me, but it was the lack of care and attention from its owners and how it was treated that irked me and also was causing this dog to seek attention whenever it did get let out inside the house where people were.
This is just so you understand a bit where I am coming from, in wondering what causes a dislike of the dog. 😊 And that I am totally not judging you at all for dislike a specific dog!! There are dogs I dislike too for various reasons, and even this dog (now passed) which I disliked and found hard to be around even when I understood why and had compassion for it too.
