Something’s not right

I can’t cope

I can’t cope

Hi. I’m new and have never been in anything like this before.
I’m really struggling with depression at the moment and just need a place to vent.
there is no reason as to why I feel this way. I just hate myself and feel like I’m an unworthy and useless person. I don’t have a partner or many friends. I feel like I keep pushing them away when I’m down. I’m just not worthy of them. I hate life and just wish I would go to sleep and not wake up. I feel so much emotional pain inside but numb at the same time. None of this makes any sense but it just how I feel.

Re: I can’t cope

She has been the best GP I’ve ever been to. @Former-Member. I can share everything with her and she listens and makes time for me. She works out of a medical centre. The other GP I saw before I met this one, doesn’t get my MI at all. He just says everyone feels like it at times. I hope she can recommend someone and do a handover.

Im feeling really uneasy about it.

Re: I can’t cope

Geeez! That is surprising that a GP would have that attitude given everything we know now about mental health. I am shocked 😳

I think that it would be very beneficial to have a conversation with her, or maybe a couple, about a transfer of notes and care to someone she thinks will understand your unique needs. And also a discussion about your fears in taking on another GP. You might even be able to ask her if there is a possibility for a couple of joint sessions with someone she would recommend?

It is the way he is and his wife is a social worker. @Former-Member In the past he has just given me anti-depressants and sent me on the way. Even when I told him that I wished I wasn’t here anymore.

I don’t think I’d still be here if it wasn’t for my current GP. She took me seriously and put my on the path of getting help. I have an app with her tomorrow so I will ask who she recommends and how we go about it.

Stressing about it isn’t helping me right now. One thing though at least I’m not emotionless anymore. Shame it’s not good ones though.

Re: I can’t cope

Hey @Captain24 ,

I'm sorry your GP is moving on. That hurts.

I remember when I was 'discharged' from treatment. I had developed a trusting connection with my clinician, and at the end of treatment, it was no more contact.

We had to work up to this discharge, but this did not stop the pain of being 'left'. It seems that the emotions are similar.

For me, it takes me so long to finally develop a trusting relationship and to have that taken away from me really set me back.

Moving forward though, this enabled me to realise I don't have to lean on someone else to get better. It meant I had to now realise I, myself, could do it.

I hope the end of this journey with your GP will be the beginning of something much better.

Hugs, tyme

Yep 😔 the not so good emotions feel

icky. But if you are feelings those, there might be room for some good ones to come soon 🤞🏼

Building a good rapport with medical professionals is so important and yet also very difficult. It’s kind of a strange relationship. You share intimate details with them but you only see them for short periods and have make an appointment! That in itself shows the level of trust needed. I’m glad she’s been so good for you ☺️

How is miss Pixie today? @Captain24

Re: I can’t cope

I feel abandoned @tyme. I felt an instant connection with her and I don’t do that very often. It does hurt. Part of my messed up head is that when I make a connection with people they leave. It was just to good to be true. So my head is saying I probably deserve it. This is the reason I’m alone. I do have 3 months to work through it. I just hope it works out and I feel comfortable and safe with the next one.

Poor little Pixie is sick just in time for her trip to the beach. @Former-Member She’s on antibiotics for an infection in her large intestine. She has slept most of the day.

Re: I can’t cope

Ohhhhh!!!! @Captain24 - Poor Pixie! I hope she'll perk up. How stressful!

As for your GP leaving, I also felt abandoned my my clinician. I was angry too because I felt I was 'tricked' to trust him week in, week out, only to be abandoned.

I won't lie. I was very hurt, angry, upset. I also hated myself for being vulnerable and connecting with him in the first place.

But looking back, I had to rise above this hurt and know I had to do this - for myself.

I hear it is hard @Captain24 - you have every right to feel abandoned.

Work up to seeing this as the beginning of a new opportunity.

Hearing you. I'm listening.

Yes, very ouch about the GP. It can be hard to distinguish some of those thoughts between making connections and losing them as a result of making them! I think I can safely say that you didn't deserve this. It is painful when people's journeys take them in different directions. For your GP she may be following a path that she needs to. Unfortunately, it isn't in line with yours right now. Not that any of that eases the pain and worry or even the feelings of deserve you shared. I hope you can find a new connection, this may take time though. How long have you had this GP?

Poor Pixie!! I hope she gets to have a play with your brothers dog and a swim with you!

Re: I can’t cope

It is stressful when she gets me up at 3am to poop and then I have to wash the blood off her butt before I can go back to bed! @tyme

I feel so stupid for feeling like this. It’s hard to get and keep GP’s here. I will try and focus on it being a new part of my journey.

I’ve only had this GP since the start of this journey so 5 months @Former-Member
