I can’t cope

I can’t cope

Hi. I’m new and have never been in anything like this before.
I’m really struggling with depression at the moment and just need a place to vent.
there is no reason as to why I feel this way. I just hate myself and feel like I’m an unworthy and useless person. I don’t have a partner or many friends. I feel like I keep pushing them away when I’m down. I’m just not worthy of them. I hate life and just wish I would go to sleep and not wake up. I feel so much emotional pain inside but numb at the same time. None of this makes any sense but it just how I feel.

I have no idea. It’s just a fight not to give into temptation.

That sounds awesome @tyme . When I was in Spain we had them for breakfast! I loved it. I’m proud of you for walking for 2 days. No walking here as it’s been raining since I woke up. More flooding in my yard.

Yeah @Captain24 ,

I really need to try and eat better. I have an appointment with my dietician on Monday.... I don't think she will be very proud of me lol.

It WAS raining and hailing here the other day, but today was pleasant and sunny.

And yes, the churros were soooo delicious and fresh! I wish I had more, but it won't do my waistline any good. Medication has contributed to me putting on a lot of weight. I really need to work at having a healthier lifestyle....

I've been enjoying the walks.

Re: I can’t cope

Hope the dietitian is gentle @tyme. surely your allowed a treat! Lol.

I get the weight gain. The last anti-psychotic I was on for 7 weeks stacked the weight on. But I can’t get into a dietitian as I need a diabetic one. The new anti-psychotic seems to have slowed down the weight gain a little. I’ve only been on these ones for 2 weeks. I also have 2 more weeks to get to the full dose of the mood stabiliser. So hopefully that helps soon.

A healthier lifestyle might benefit both of us! I’m going to try. But I did fail tonight I had Thai takeaway! But I was hoping it would be a mood booster. What’s for dinner for you?

I’m glad it was sunny for you and you get to enjoy your walks!

If it keeps raining the park here will be shut due to flooding.

Re: I can’t cope

@Captain24 ,

I went to the swimming pools this morning, so that's my exercise. Then I had Chinese for lunch and the churros...

I'm also going to have a 'treat' tomorrow because I'm going out in the morning... so I can't say I'm too conscious about having a healthy lifestyle..then, I have a wedding to attend on Friday... so more treats?

Let's just say, I'm going to fail this challenge.... But I certainly understand that I really do need to do something. I will go for more walks tomorrow...

I've also enrolled in Zumba classes and Latin dance classes. I think I only have time to attend one... so I'll choose once I try a lesson of each. That starts in October.

As they say, 'tomorrow never comes'... that's what it feels like for me in terms of getting back into shape.

Thank goodness I have you to encourage me 🙂

As for dinner, I'm not going to have anything tonight - that's another bad point. I should be eating small regular meals. But instead, I have one big meal and that's it. I know all the science and the head-knowledge... now I have to do it.

tyme

@tyme

Swimming is the best exercise! I love it. If we had an indoor pool here, I’d be there every day off.

Latin dancing sounds like fun. Id love to learn it. I can do ballet, tap, jazz and all of those but I never learnt ballroom or Latin.

Im going to get a skipping rope and hope that encourages me on top of walking twice a day when it’s not raining or flooded.

I know what to do food wise too but just can’t do it. I’ve decided to just cut back completely and have nothing in the house so I can’t just eat.

Sounds like you have an amazing few days planned. I hope you enjoy them.

Re: I can’t cope

That's the issue @Captain24 - eating is a social thing for me. If I hang out with people, it's nice to have a coffee, brunch, afternoon tea etc with them. So it's not that I buy junk... it's going out that I have junk....OR, people give me chocolate...quite often.

Even now, I see so many boxes of chocolates in my bedroom which are gifts from people.

I've got a heated pool at home. It's pretty good, but I prefer the beach. I went to the pools today mainly to check out this aquatic 'wellness' centre that has just been opened, and to see what facilities they had.

I'm not a dancer whatsoever, but I need to get out of the house so i find if I join a community event like zumba, then I am more accountable. I don't think I'm someone who can skip at home or go on a bike.... I need other people...

How awesome that you are a dancer. I didn't do any dancing as a kid. I did martial arts instead.

I ended up eating a punnet of blueberries tonight...

Re: I can’t cope

My eating is from just sitting at home. I don’t really have anyone to socialise with @tyme . It sounds like you have some fabulous connections.

You are so brave joining groups. My extreme social phobia prevents me from joining anything.

I didn’t dance as a child. I started in my 20’s. I’ve been thinking about taking up martial arts as it’s similar but different at the same time. However the phobia gets in the way.

Re: I can’t cope

Good you raised the issue about socialising @Captain24 - I HATE it!

I am MAKING myself go to this wedding. I make myself get out because I don't want the social phobia and anxiety to return! I stayed away from people for so many years. So now, at every opportunity, I push myself to get out so that the anxiety doesn't build up.

But in myself, I actually hate getting out. I just know I need to do it for my mental health.

This is what I mean when I say that recovery isn't easy. It's about pushing ourselves to do things we actually don't like doing.

I'm dreading the wedding, but I'm doing a lot of self-talk. Maybe that's why when I go out, I have to 'treat' myself? It's a reward for hanging out?

Tomorrow morning, I'm going to visit this old man who used to live in the neighbourhood. He's 87 and has just moved into a retirement village. I don't really want to go, but I feel bad in case I don't get to see him - he's getting weaker and weaker. He's a lonely guy.

I do my part. Sometimes, fulfilment and life is not just about doing things for ourselves, but also doing those little things that make others happy.

Are you doing anything for the public holiday?

Re: I can’t cope

I’ve always had social anxiety but it’s completely out of control now. @tyme I get the making yourself go as I’ve done that in the past and usually enjoy myself. At the moment the fear adds to everything else and I just can’t deal with anymore pain.

I can’t even make myself visit my nan and she doesn’t have long left. She does have dementia and doesn’t know what’s going on anyway.

I think that maybe I don’t have the strength to recover.

As for the public holiday I’ll just be at home, like normal and I’ll take Pixie for a walk.

It’s sweet that you’re visiting that older gentleman. He would love it.
