Learning to Love Myself!

Learning to Love Myself!

Dear friends

How do I go about learning to love myself when I don’t even like myself?

What are some of the things you do to show yourself love?

I am extremely overweight so tonight I have joined MyFitnessPal again. I previously used it to good effect. I have been reading various articles on there tonight. My main goal is to get healthier. I plan to start eating healthier and going for daily walks. What are some of your tips, tricks and healthy recipes? I don’t really enjoy vegetables but I know it’s about time I gave up my unhealthy ways. Thanks for any help.

Thanks @Bow for the body neutrality idea. Never heard of it before.

@Oaktree Harnessing the feelings of loving others and gently learning to applpy them to oneself can be a big shift.

I went grocery shopping today and although hubby bought a few unhealthy items I did not. I am looking forward to the healthy meals I plan to make. I bought some tomato and basil marinated chicken to have with a baked potato and some pumpkin. I know what you are going to say - i need something green. I will think about that, I think there are peas and corn in the freezer.

I also went for a walk today. It felt good to get outside in the fresh air and I managed to miss the rain.

Here’s to new beginnings!

@NatureLover

I loved myself today by buying myself a special treat. I bought a beautiful pair of purple tie dye tracksuit pants. They came from a mens store but they fit perfectly and I love them. $35 well spent!

throw in the odd vego ... like pumkpin soup ...

its soup season... and they are so easy ... have you got a slow cooker?

Why yes @Appleblossom I do have a slow cooker. I did end up adding peas and corn to my dinner tonight. Wish I could show you the photo but the file is too big.

Aww, well done, @Oaktree ! I hope they bring you joy whenever you wear them! 🙂

Also, I wanted to say, I am also a food addict. It can come from childhood abuse and also parental disordered eating /influence. Food addiction is very hard to deal with, as we have to eat. Also, I use food to regulate my mental health. Also, food is all around us.

I recognise that I will probably never be able to make major changes to my eating styles*, so I commend you for making the small changes you are making - going for walks and adding more vegetables, etc. Even those things are hard.

*Having diabetes 2 hasn't made much change to my eating styles. But who knows, would I change them if I had a serious event like a heart attack or something?
