sick of myself

sick of myself

ive been MIA lately. just so ashamed of myself for getting so low again. for being so useless to everyone around me. i'm so confused and lost in my life. ive been on this merry go round for 3 years since seperating frm my ex of court and appeals and family court mud slinging matches. it doesnt end and im suddenly so angry with it all and ive never really felt anger before and im terrified of it. people tell me that i need to hold on and that all that external stuff 'will end'... its been 3 years.. and at least family court wise we havent even started that properly yet. i cant envisage coping through another 3 years of this and being told that it 'will end' is just agh! im so confused with this anger that is just bubbling under the surface at the moment. i dont know what to do with it and when i start to 'get angry' i immediately start to remember horrific things where others were angry and shut off into some bad space with the movies running over and over in my head. i feel like i go from almost about to explode in anger to this pathetic terrified whimpering child. i'm scared all the time that its going to happen again. my physical health is on the rocks though mostly the drs just say im run down and my mental health is not helping and could be contributing etc. which is all true but doesnt really lead to anything getting better. and sleep is non existant. my pyschiatrist wanted me to use meds and i told him i'd tried them and they dont work and he laughed as though i was lying (not unkindly.. hes actually quite nice) and i wont take the other stuff he seems to love... but makes me feel so much worse during the day. it kind of doesnt help that its holidays i think because i lose the... routine that work forces me to stick to. and my kids are with their dad for the longest time yet and not speaking to them for so long is just awful.

i was getting by before by focussing on the next important thing that i had to do, whether it was get dressed, make lunches, get in the car, plan lesson, talk to... etc i just had everything down to this focus on one thing next. but i havent been able to keep up with any more than that andnow theres so much more piling in that is overwhelming me completely. house is a disaster area, but probably cluttered densely enougn now that we'd survive a nuclear attack (see i can sstill see a silver lining). my blood pressure problems and dizziness may mean i cant drive if it keeps happening. we wont cope with that. my brain looks at stuff and just doesnt compute it. i cant concentrate or make myself do that things that i know need doing. i started the dishes an hour ago but got as far as filling the sink and washing one plate before i just got distracted and ended up back in my chair. im just so utterly usefless at the moment and theres just nothing of me left.

Re: sick of myself

I'm going to get my kids this afternoon. Feeling scared, always terrified they won't b there. Scared of what will have been said to them if they are there. They often come home angry with me, my daughter keeps asking me to say sorry to daddy for everything. It's a long drive to pick them up (an hour each way). It's going to b a long day. Just want it to b time already

Re: sick of myself

@Former-Member. My best friend is going through the same thing as you with a 5 year old who comes home and says "daddy said because you don't love me anymore ...... I can't see him .... or .... he was getting me a horse but can't now because mummy took you away.... etc etc. The emotional torture of children is just horrible to watch - when you feel helpless to do anything. And this is just from my perspective (the Aunty). I'm sorry you have to go through this.
My best friend tells her daughter "I'm sorry daddy said that. That's not right. Daddy should tell Mummy not you. You have done nothing wrong and I love you"
But remember - you are strong - you are brave - you are their carer - you are their support. They will learn that you are their safe place. They will know that you will always be there for them.
I'm really feeling for you.
Give them all the biggest hug when you get them home.

Hi @Former-Member,

just wanted to know I'm thinking of you. I hope your kids are ok when you pick them up. You are doing well💜😊. As I've said before you are carrying a huge load at the moment under great stress. I believe so much it will get better for you one day but it must seem so overwhelming now. One day your kids will know the truth. I've never known that not to happen. They will work it all out and understand the immense strength you have had to garner to create a good life for them. Hopefully they'll understand and have compassion for your immense suffering through this too. Hang in there @Former-Member. I think you're amazing, you have my total respect. Sending hugs and best wishes. 💜😊🤗💐

Hi @utopia

Its hard, and so unfair on the kids to be used in such ways. your friend has a great response.. unfortunately in my case i have to be really careful not to say anything about what dad should or should not be doing or saying because of court orders. courts are far harder on the parent that kids live iwth because they think you are going to cause the most damage or something and use parental alienation but they dont seem to think it comes from the other side. im so tired of courts.. i wish we had final orders and it was jsut all settled, but he will keep this in court for as long as he possibly can.

hi @Former-Member

thank you, i know you are really struggling, you are strong... im not realy strong. people always say that i am.. but i hate it because i feel like all i do is just exist from one day to the nxt which i dont really think is strength. i hope that one day the kids do know... but i worry about the cost to them either way. its just so unfair.

Hi Lisajane

Just wanted to say I'm new to this forum but I totally understand what you are going through and how you feel about yourself. Sounds like you do your best with your children and you have a lot on your plate.

Inregards to the rage, I used to have such bad uncontrollable rage. mainly becuase I interlise everything and dont let it go but 2 things helped me. I'm not a gym person or anything like that but find if I feel like rage is coming on I play with my dog and try to tire myself out. I find if I'm tired I'm not angry or anxious and sometimes writing down all your angry thoughts can help as well. I once wrote a letter to my family which never got posted telling them exactly what I feel about them and all they have done to me. It was a little too "truthful" to send off but it did make me feel better. Now the other things was meds I found for me anyway Celexa really helps with my rage. I know this becuase when I was feeling good a few years ago I thought I may come off slowly but then the rage started to creep in again. I tend to self anaylse a real lot and find often my rage comes from being very defensive in nature which I guess is due to some PTSD which I have as well. I tend to take things very personally if I'm in the wrong state of mind.

I think we (all BPD) people are stronger than we think, I know in my DBT group the therapists use to say that BPD people are one of the most strongest & couregous people around. You think about it if someone who is " normal" lived what we have gone through and endured the same I'm sure they wouldnt cope as well. I dont feel strong either but I have been told the same thing over and over. Mostly because I just keep going, puttin gone foot in front of the other - I dont give myself the chance to contemplate something I just do it even when I'm feeling as low as I am now I think its become automatic I just keep going.

I hope you feel better soon. 🙂

hi @Change123

thank you for your reply, sorry ive been so slow to reply. i love that you play with your dog to help letthings out. i have a dog.. or my daughter does perhaps lol he's always with her 😄 but i have definitely foudn we get out for more walks outside with him which helps a lot with my mood... at least while im out and moving.

i like your idea about writing... but im not sure i could write it all out, it owuld be too much. i often write emails to my psychologist about things that are going on.

i can relate to waht you say about analysing things. i am alsways going over and over things. trying to see everything from every angle and why its all my fault.. or that something has happened because of me...

I'm not sure if this is right or not but the loneliness and the sense of being alone is the most crushing at times. its hard to keep going with every thing when you're alone. Christmas is looming up ahead already and im terrified already. i probably wont have my kids with me for the day and its already weighing me down... which is just ridiculous. oh well!

i hope you are going ok tonight, take care

Re: sick of myself

hi @Former-Member

glad you are still here .. me being selfish.

It is not at all ridiculous to feel concerned about Christmas coming up. You are a planner and organised and they are good traits. People plan ahead for Christmas ... its the nature of the beast. I certainly had a lot of angst about it over the years. It really hurt a lot. In fact it was a problem from year 1 with my marriage ... and I was upset with him after a couple of years.. as he was moping pathetically about his poor daughter that I had driven across town ... while he had a real daughter and wife with him that he could have planned a nice day with ... but no ... too hard .. some much for IT nerds. .... and spoilt rotten rich kids.

I am a bit more gritty about it now and went through a few phases.I just read that it is called mental toughness. Now my son says its just another day .. mostly he spends it with me now .. he went to his dad before a lot .. but realises that I was the one left alone. if you are alone ... take it on the chin ... plan the day for you ... I had a friend who tried to get me to hitchhike on other people's christmas .. but that became to messy and annoying and frankly there aint a family that isnt having some not so ideal situation to deal with.

Lock yourself inside with great food and drink and DVD s or whatever you like .. I found it weird the first time .. I emerged unscathed and looked at the other poor mothers exhausted and stressed ... but felt a strange strength as I had taken control of my christmas wellbeing.

Re: sick of myself

Hi @Former-Member
I had two successive Christmases alone. The first I was invited to attend the Christmas dinner put on by a church group. I did go, rather reluctantly but I ended up helping in the kitchen because I was not homeless! I was in denial. Somehow I believed that I couldn't be homeless if I wad helping in the kitchen. It ended up being quite a fun time. Less than a month later I was working in an evacuation centre following a natural disaster.
The next Christmas I volunteered to work in the kitchen for the same church group and it really was a fun day and such a good way to celebrate Christmas by giving. It was during these experiences that I discovered how much I could benefit from giving to other people who are in need.
I guess volunteering had always been a part of my life. My parents were always helping others in many and varied ways so it came naturally to me. It might be worth considering doing something like this rather than at home alone. 🎶

Re: sick of myself

Hi @Former-Member,

I can totally relate to you with this. It was really hard not to have Christmas with my kids. I've only had Christmas every second year with them since they were 8,7,6 and 3. They were always away for about 3 weeks of the Christmas school holidays. I won't pretend it's easy but over time everyone acclimatises. We have always had our Christmas at home before they flew out. We've made our own traditions over the years. I think it would be helpful to plan Christmas as usual, make your own Christmas, it's still Christmas but just on another day. Then the big trick is to find something to do on dec 25 that will take your mind off. I love @Kurra suggestion too. Perhaps if you have a friend that's helped you out you could go and help them on their Christmas Day as a way of helping someone back. I know it's not the same but I sometimes do this with my friend. I wait on her for a day to help pay back all she does for me and all the coffees and meals she's bought me. I'm really sorry that you may have to go through this and am thinking of you with it. Here if you need to vent or rant. It sucks. Sending hugs💜😊💐🤗
