At least you are honest about your own feelings @Happyness
There are heaps of people who are not.

I hope the next anniversary has dignity too.
In my life, I have noticed many people ridiculed for going on long rants, so I tried to be very circumspect with my own. Mostly I have been in the passive listener role, especially pre-uni days. The worst offender was an early very nasty boyfriend (16-20). I hope you dont mind if my reply is a little longer than your opener.
I now consciously approach my closest anniversaries, mark them privately in a way that is relevant to me, and can let them go. I have small photos in my piano studio of all the individuals. Yesterday someone visited and I could point to the photos mention their names and cause of death without getting triggered.
A life and a death is more than a private event ... it is public and we will never know all the consequences of a loss.
A big healing though was the posting of their anniversaries in a book on public display in a city church that had also witnessed my tears on the sanctuary on many occasion. Singing there anchored me and kept me alive long enough for new information to become readily available. Information that was necessary to understand the causes of their MI and their deaths ...
Lovely to hear from you. @Happyness

You have to make the stand that is right for you @Happyness. You are the person in the best position to do that. It is hard when others you are close to are tempted to do things you dont want to do.
Glad to hear from you again.
