I know a few people with serious schizophrenia who lived many decades "successfully without meds". Maybe I just know more people with mental illness than average. Eg; My ex went off in early 1990s and told me this week he is swimming and going to art classes ... he drove me up the wall tho. Like Really. Never Mind.
Reclaim your power over your meds and your body. Slowly. I usually tell my pdoc after the fact ... like 3-6 months later ... he knows now I am serious about tapering down and off. There was no need for dishonesty.
The way my son's team is set up is much more invasive and controlling of him. Orders and all that. I wish we could swap places. I want his body to be free ... but it is out of my control.
Work within what you can control ... get chemist to explain webster or label ... or change chemist. We are told to "seel help" which then puts us in helpless position and its hard to
If your 'team' helped out with your son and that is contained, then maybe it is time to improve things a bit.
The meds do not control hallucinations they take the edge off ... work on strategies ... if this ... then that ... Face your fears ...Fear is real ...but it is just a feeling of fear ... side effects of long term meds are real ...I always have a reality detecting metre ... somehow just grew it meself ....they did not tell me that was genetic ...
Love you.
