Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Hello,

Im a first time user on these forums and hoping to find connection with others on their journey 😀.

I had a second hospitalisation in June this year but this time I haven't lost my job (which means a lot to me) and trying to get through and cope without medication. I'm not 100% confident I'm taking the right approach.

Sending strength to all.

@Squidge , welcome to this support group. I am sure you will find very supportive members here. May I ask why you were hospitalised? I suffered a severe anxiety attack last May and ended up in hospital. It was scary. I was prescribed medication but didn't take it for long. Are you seeing a therapist? That's helping me at the moment dealing with life with a husband with complex-PTSD.

Wishing you strength and peace. ❤️

Re: Hello, Im a first time user on these forums and hoping...

Thanks for getting back to me @Healandlove. The hospitalisation was due due a brief episode of psychosis (altered states of consciousness) and feeling very unsafe. I have a history of being labelled with bipolar in 2011 and some experiences of trauma.

I don't have a therapist at the moment but I'm trying the SANE guided service and I check in with my GP regularly. I studied psychology at uni, had a mum who lived with psychosocial disability, and work in the field in NSW. I'm open to trying different modalities for recovery but also trying to minimise the risk of long term health issues. My mumma passed at 53, we were very connected and I miss her dearly.

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Hi all,

This is my first time here, only learned about SANE after a google search!

I was diagnosed this year with ADHD and have been medicated. This has certainly helped me with my performance at work and general anxiety. But unfortunately it does not teach me skills to manage interpersonal relationships or learn about coping skills and communication skills.

I would like to connect with peers who have lived experience and learn about how to manage adhd better in the long run.

On top of all that, I had gone through a very bad separation which had left me with alot of anxiety symptoms (one of the reasons I sought support). I had been to therapy before but would like to try the services at SANE.

Thank you 💖

@Squidge , I am so sorry to hear about your mum's passing. Our parents passing would be an unimaginable loss and grief. I can't fathom how I will cope when my turn comes. I hope you find peace and healing. Also find ways to connect with your mum everyday. I believe we are never gone from.the people we love and care about. I feel your mum's spirit is with you everyday.

I hope your journey with SANE therapy helps. I am going to join the program too but for now I go to therapy with a trauma trained psychologist and also have couple counselling once a month. It does get hard to talk about feelings in therapy, specially couple counselling. But I find it beneficial because the psychologist acts as a mediator as well and helps me get the hard things out. Not easy though and can be draining. But hopefully all towards healing all around.

I'm glad your hospitilazation didn't affect your job and it sounds like you are proud and positive about that. Those are good feelings to hold onto.

One day at a time as they say.

Hang in there please.
