Sad and isolated

Hi, being anonymous makes it easier for me to tell people what is happening, so thanks for that Sane. I have been diagnosed with cPTSD triggered by recent retrauma if that is a thing. Learning about this has helped me understand how much it has affected so much in my life.

I haven’t been able to work for a bit over six months and have been successful thoroughly isolating myself.

I have support, a great GP, psychologist and my husband of 30 years who had helped me heal so much until an incident late last year. My depression is deep right now which has led me to this forum. Just hoping to avoid hospitalisation again. Maybe getting off the lounge some time soon. Maybe not.

Re: Sad and isolated

Hey @Flotsam,

Welcome to the forums 💛. The anonymity is one of Sane forums best qualities. That and the community within the forums.

Retrauma is a thing and unfortunately can happen from time to time. Sorry to hear that this has happened for you, it can feel like a real set back. Understanding what is happening can offer some comfort. I also have cPTSD and can now recognise when and how trauma is effecting me. I found understanding helped me accept it a little more. The cycles of cPTSD can be very draining though.

I am glad to hear you have some supports. I hope you will find some more supports on here. We do have some social spaces as well if you wanted to explore? If you wanted to share some of your interests I could show you around some of the social spaces?

What are your pets names?? There are a few animal lovers here @maddison @Zoe7.

Do you ride your horse?

I will try to find the social space for craft for you too.

Re: Sad and isolated

Hi, I too am finding it hard to get out of bed. Today I managed a walk and a dance after a week of being in bed. It helped a little and I didn't get into bed at 3pm like I had been all week. It's hard isn't it, knowing that going out and doing stuff will help but having no motivation go do so..

Hey @Flotsam

I'm maddison. Welcome to the forums😊 I find that this is a great place to connect with others who are feeling solitary, & similar to myself. It helps lots to know we are not alone.... In feeling alone.

Yes, I agree - it's more safe being able to be anonymous. I'm still learning how to effectively communicate online. It can be difficult without the cues we get in 'real life '

How is your depression today?

I'm reading that you feel lots of gratitude for the support systems you have in place. That is wonderful & you are fortunate. It's lovely that you can see those good things too - even amongst the darkness.

It can be very hard for people, who don't struggle with mental health to fully relate, with how heavy things can feel, for us. Maybe, we imagine that we are a burden to 'so called normal' ppl too. Do you ever experience this?

If you want to chat with anyone don't forget to put an @ in front of their name. That way, they will get a notification. Eg @Flotsam @Former-Member @Shaz51 @Daisydreamer 😊

Hello @Shaz51

This weather is making my own depression more difficult @Flotsam

Please continue to reach out here, anytime you want xx

Hi, I'm LittleWren

I'm autistic and at this point in my life it feels like I am collecting disorders - I have GAD, OCD, depression, PTSD, depersonalisation derealisation disorder and some disordered eating struggles. According to my psychologist, my ptsd was caused by the way mental health services have treated me, especially psychiatrists and hospitals. I have a few friends but I don't feel I am able to talk to any of them about this stuff even though some of them struggle with their mental health because I don't think they would understand my experiences and I also get too triggered by talking about it. I feel really lonely in my experiences, especially with having so many different disorders. I also feel really alone in my horrible experiences with the mental health system.

Good Evening @LittleWren ,

Welcome to the forums! Thank you for sharing your story with us and sharing what is happening for you at the moment. I'm sorry there have been ongoing traumas associated with mental health services.

I hope you find the support you are looking for as you move around the forums.

Speak soon, tyme

Hi @Beachboots ,

Just checking in, I hope you're doing better.

I have just gotten back from spending two days camping with my friends family.

I am teary again because my sleep was messed up for the last two nights. Hoping tonight I can be more settled.

What TV show do you tune out to before sleeping?
